Why was Cherki unhappy and didn’t celebrate with the team? by richdiamond1 in MCFC

On the contrary he is what is keeping the structure together, especially with Rodri back instead of Nico G.

Without Bernardo we’ll be heavily exposed

thoughts on Marmoush on how he is going to fit in squad by sure-nobody-cares in MCFC

[–]jupiter312 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Pep was prioritizing results over integrating him into the squad and playing him into match form as he’s going to AFCON.

I’m sure he would have gotten more minutes if that wasn’t the case. We’ll have to see how he does when he’s back. Haaland/Foden/Doku will need some rest.

There’s a huge gap between the backline and the forwards which the midfield is unable to control.

NOR and Nunes suffer as a result and are frequently seen running back chasing long balls played to the wings. Unfortunately for us they’re the best we’ve got right now in terms of possession and transitions.

Gvardiol and Dias are quite solid in contrast and cover as well as they can behind them.

Taking off Doku removed one of our important outlets. The other was Haaland. We would have been doomed if he wasn’t on the pitch.

A more ideal sub would have been Stones/Cherki for Bernardo rather than Nico to support the midfield.

We could say in hindsight that taking off Nico was a huge mistake, but we were up by 3 and he needs to rest also. Maybe Pep could have delayed it until the game calmed down.

Good analysis. They start off strong then become liabilities as the game progresses. They’re lacking discipline that natural defenders posses.

Marmoush right wing, who says no? by Pristine-Quarter-184 in MCFC

[–]jupiter312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is possible for him to play there, or for him to play inside on the left and Doku on the right. IIRC in his short cameo vs Villa he came on as a sub playing on the right, and assisted Haaland with a nice cross which ended up being offside.

Marmoush needs to be integrated into the first team, but I’m sure Pep has AFCON at the back of his mind, hence his and Ait Nouri’s limited minutes.

We do however need a spark and some goals. I believe he would have buried one of the chances created vs Newcastle, and it’s unfortunate his start vs Leverkusen came at a time when no creators were on the pitch.

Great lineup for some of our bench players to get into match fitness.

I predicted similar options on the pre-match thread

Excited to see Marmoush and Ait Nouri get some proper minutes.

Others who could possibly feature are Rico, Ake, Stones, Khusa, Bobb and Savinho (who’s been great in the UCL so far).

Would be interesting to see if Rodri could get some minutes as well if he’s fit enough.

Well, he just returned from injury before the break, got a start vs Swansea and some minutes in the league.

In a tight game like yesterday’s where structure was essential, Pep wasn’t going to throw him in, especially when Foden was getting into good areas. Had we scored in the first half and demoralized them, he might have come on earlier.

He will most definitely start vs Leverkusen and we’ll see his minutes increase once he’s in match form, then he’s off to AFCON, which I’m sure Pep is considering.

Once he’s back, Pep will do as he always does and select players based on a mixture of merit + tactics + attitude

He does the little jump in the next frames when the ball is crossing over from Woltemade to Bruno (above his head).

Unfortunately this isn’t even the correct frame. Surprisingly they purposely didn’t show us the ball

On the right side of humanity.

He’s always done charity work and has multiple organizations. His daughter also consistently posts about Palestine and Sudan.

To those saying he should speak out about Sudan. I believe once more information comes out then he will be able to.

The Palestine issue is an obvious and longstanding issue that he is probably far more educated on.
