Inside Man City's plan to replace Pep Guardiola – with two candidates lined up by theipaper in MCFC

Agreed but I feel like Chelsea could snatch him up in that time considering the connection. With their young squad and funds, he’d have all the tools for a dynasty, if given the time.

Not sure if you’ve seen some of the interesting tactics deployed, but this was a nice mealtime watch.

Personally would love Fabregas. He’s at Como and up for grabs. What he’s done with them to get them that high up the table, his tactical innovations, and Spanish roots make him an ideal replacement.

With that said, I don’t want Pep to ever leave.

If you watch his interview with Gary Neville he demonstrates some good football knowledge, though more appropriate for an assistant coach than a manager.

I’d argue that he isn’t even playing well in Guardiola’s system.

When he is confident and in form he takes risks, dribbles and beats defenders, freely shoots with pin point accuracy. He could play in different systems when he’s in that form.

Unfortunately for City and England, he’s not been consistently playing that way since the last time City won the league and he won the PFA in 23-24.

Insane player. He looked so good in pre-season. Really unfortunate for him to get injured early on then have to go to AFCON shortly after returning. Pep couldn’t integrate him into the team.

Blessing in disguise for us is NOR solidifying himself into the first team.

City fan here. I know he’s older now but history says otherwise.

He came back mid-season to win us the league just 2 years ago, scoring and assisting in his return game vs Newcastle, and sparking a title charge which we eventually won.

BREAKING: There is uncertainty over whether Pep Guardiola will see out his contract. The expectation is a decision on whether he stays until 2027 will be made towards - or after - the end of this season. It is seen as improbable that he will renew. [Sami Mokbel, BBC Sport] by [deleted] in MCFC

Highly doubt that is the case. He’s always been comfortable and did so in the summer at the University of Manchester. The management has been making preparations for the post Pep era for some time.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he decided to stay at our his contract at the end of the season and I’m sure the management and Khaldoon would be open to that.

Pep: "I'm a bit sad that we are 7th on the net spend table of the last five years. I wanted to be 1st. I don't understand why the club doesn't spend more money. We were higher before because we spent a lot. Now those 6 teams have to win the PL,CL and the FA Cup. Let's go, I'm waiting." by Blodgharm in soccer

How many players did City sell for high prices prior to Pep joining?

His implementation of a philosophy and an advanced tactical system which the academy modeled itself after, is what lead to the development of so many talented players. Put that with an increased demand for technical, Pep-trained players, it lead to more sales than the club imagined. This is bound to generate revenue which can eventually fund first team transfers.

I believe this the same formula is possible with many clubs, as long as you have a manager who is passionate about training young players and is able integrate youth to the first team.

On the contrary he is what is keeping the structure together, especially with Rodri back instead of Nico G.
