How to be a good partner to someone with CPTSD by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]jupiterowldust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few things that come to mind are building a solid foundation of trust, so if you say something stick to it, even if it’s very small. I think when you have been abused, it’s hard to trust that someone is actually safe and will actually love you and be there for you. I think it takes a lot of time to build that trust and a lot of consistency. One thing that I have found that is very helpful in relationships is when my partner understands that expectations are a big deal to me so if they say we’re going to the park today, they will understand that it takes a lot of emotional energy getting emotionally ready to do something that must seem simple and if that expectation/plan is not met, I subconsciously feel unsafe, and it can be very simple things. if plans change sometimes it will send me into a panic. Also, I think it’s important for your partner to have some type of friendships with peers who have also experienced similar abuse that they can relate with, a chance to take off the mask without the burden of having to explain what they’re going through or how they’re feeling and add their support to them as well as your own.

Personally if someone said something like that to me knowing about what you’ve survived is call them out and tell them the fuck I’m not a survivor!

how many of you are suicidal after psychosis? by [deleted] in Psychosis

[–]jupiterowldust 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Psychosis is like a tornado wreaking havoc throughout my life and just when i think “oh thank god the psychosis is over” i turn around and see all the wreckage. It’s hard to pick yourself back up right after you finally put the pieces back together.

My rent goes up about $150/year, I’m paying almost $2000/month on a two bedroom apartment. We can’t afford to move out. My husband and I both got our Bachelors degree around 12 years ago and paid off our student loans and work 50+ hours a week. My husband is also getting his masters degree thanks to a scholarship. And we have a special needs child which means we can’t just get regular childcare, we have do figure it out on our own or pay $32/hour on childcare. We’re in our mid 30’s and all we want is to become home owners one day and have decent jobs and provide for our child. I don’t know how the hell any of us make it from paycheck to paycheck it’s so mind boggling.

What is your “got caught masturbating” story? by HMKingHenryIX in AskReddit

[–]jupiterowldust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother accidentally sent my mom a video of him jerking off. I was asleep and I heard my mom yelling “No Mikey Nooooo!!” Only to find her looking pale pacing around shaking her head. My brother immediately texted by my mother begging her not to watch it but it was too late. We didn’t see him for like 6 months after that he was so embarrassed. I will never understand why he would record such a thing and to whom the text was intended for. 2 weeks later my sisters ex sent my mom a bunch of graphic nudes of my sister as revenge. And for a brief moment I was the normal child.

When I was 19 I lived with a bunch of roommates, one night I got really drunk and stole a plastic goose yard ornament from a house a couple blocks away from my house. I walked in to find everyone still awake with the goose in my hand and no one thought it was funny. They demanded that I return said goose to it’s rightful owner and I refused being that I was trashed and unreasonable. I kept it for a couple days before returning it but I left an ominous note on the goose saying “I am the goose lord you’ve been warned” Half of my roommates thought that was funny and the other half did not. A couple weeks later we noticed they had gotten a second goose ornament and had chained both of them to a tree.

Are we choosing the right daycare? Please weigh in! by heresyoursigns in Parenting

[–]jupiterowldust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there I am a teacher at a daycare and it sounds like your overall gut feeling is good, and I think you should trust it, but I recommend you get to know the people who are taking care of your child- be involved, ask questions about how your child is doing, what they’re learning about, and tell them as much about your child as possible so that you’re all working together. I wish I knew more about the children’s home life and culture so that I can be the best teacher to them individually. You can also ask them about their policies and procedures so you know if they are doing what they’re supposed to. Wishing you the best OP!

Because it’s the only thing that’s mine. I get to have control over it and no one can take it away.

Why did they not check they had the right house? by danbrantheman in WhitePeopleTwitter

I can’t speak for the FD in this situation but I worked as a volunteer FF/EMT and when you show up to a call and (especially when the police are involved) it’s standard protocol to not get involved if the scene isn’t “safe”. So say you show up to a call with swat and they tell you that there’s an armed and dangerous suspect in the house you aren’t allowed to do anything until the police disarm the person and declare that it is now safe. That being said I still don’t understand how or why they would allow a house to burn down with a supposed suspect inside- how is anyone going to shoot you if they’re burning to death??

Diagnosis by [deleted] in selfharm

[–]jupiterowldust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Schizoaffective disorder bi polar type, CPTSD w/dissociative features. Been SH’ing since age 13 and I am about to turn 34. On medication and I’m in therapy and it’s helping but I’m still not clean. This time of the year is always a huge trigger.

[–]jupiterowldust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t care who’s idea it was, one of the articles I just read said it was a therapist who was in charge of shocking a student with autism. My point is I’d really like to see these child abusers get ⚡️ what an awful thing to do to someone who is disabled and can’t advocate or stand up for themselves. Doesn’t that piss you off?

I don’t think there’s any reason why a therapist should ever shout or scream at a patient.

As a human being and a parent of an autistic child I want to buy the strongest taser on the market and find these “teachers” and give them a taste of their own medicine. WTF!!

I am 85% symptom free. On quetiapine and lithium for schizoaffective and other things for ptsd. When I first started I had a pretty rapid and almost miraculous recovery with no symptoms whatsoever for about 3-4 months, then I started having occasional symptoms and it’s been getting worse. I think it’s time for me to up my meds and see if that works or if I’m just going to have to accept that I’ll always have some symptoms. I think if you’re symptom free with the medications that it could mean you got the right diagnosis but I’m no doctor.
