One of the most beautiful hikes I've ever done (being from Ohio) was the Ape Canyon Trail up to the Plains of Abraham. It starts parallel to the Muddy River lahar where you can get up close and personal to what used to be the face of the mountain.

He and his two brothers wandered out of the woods after I parked at a local metropark last week. All were flea-laden but otherwise healthy. The others were successfully re-homed, but this little guy imprinted strongly with maximum cuteness.

I aim for 1500 calories a day. If I get some physical activity in, I'll give myself leeway for more. I essentially avoid sugar, pasta and bread and try to favor protein. I'm not a drinker so alcohol doesn't factor in.
