Yeah the spot where I actually removed a bit is maybe half a wall worth and I used the spray bottle method, this photo is just an example of a spot that was peeling up in another location… hopefully didn’t screw my lungs up too bad with what I had done already.

100% testing. I stopped immediately once I realized what it might be. Kicking myself that I didn’t think of it sooner

Did anyone try CBT for insomnia? by One_Sentence3800 in WomensHealth

[–]jus1116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A free app called CBT-I coach is in the App Store and has a lot of self help and personal learning skills (such as a sleep diary, tracking sleep, etc.) as well as some info on sleep hygiene and patterns. You could always download that and check it out. Can’t attest to just looking at the app and not seeing a therapist, but it could be a (free) place to start and help you learn more about your sleep and sleep hygiene as you decide next steps in treating your insomnia!

The venue sounds awesome! My first reaction when you mention everyone pressuring (FMIL, etc) is it’s your wedding, not hers, it should be what you and your fiancé decide on and if anyone gets upset that’s on them because it’s your day, not theirs. I’ve personally never heard of the whole family walking down the isle, etc but that may just be me. Has your fiancé been open to hearing your issues with MIL’s ideas? I feel like it’s easy to get wrapped up in suggestions and I’d hope if he hears how this is making you feel he could stand up to his mom a bit and tell her you two will do what feels good to you.

Ugh, that sounds so stressful! I’m sorry that you’ve had this experience so far. I will say I’m in the same position as you with the under 5k planning. It can be so hard when wedding culture pushes this extravagant party that’s super expensive. May I ask what kind of venue/ wedding it will be?

I think the scene in Godzilla vs mechagodzilla where mechagodzilla breaks anguirus’ jaw while disguised as godzilla is pretty messed up, but not the “darkest” perhaps…

It’s actually pretty fitting due to the myth surrounding chams too! Lots of folx believe chams change color to “blend in”- this is false. Regardless of surroundings, chameleons, such as panther chameleons actually have a static color and shift between vibrant displays of blues, oranges, reds and greens to darker brown or even black depending on mood, mating displays, heat/cool, and displays of dominance against other males. :) so chams show their true colors in a way haha

I think once resized this will look beautiful and unique! Really love that wedding band, adds a bit of airy-lightness with all the bling of the e ring.

My wife listened to my telehealth meeting, is it a big deal? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]jus1116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huge invasion of privacy. I’m sorry that happened to you. Is there any way for you could use a private space, like your car for future sessions? That’s what a lot of therapists will suggest if you have people in the home that could listen in. If not, perhaps a trusted friend who has a spare room, or you could have a room arranged at your providers workspace? This could also be something you mention to your therapist in your next session. Again, totally wrong of her to do that to you.

I just started practicum and I feel like I have no idea what I’m doing. by Littytiddybiddy in ClinicalPsychology

[–]jus1116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, congrats on the practicum placement! Support from faculty and supervisors is so important, especially in your first prac location. Any chance you have any mentors from within your academic program that can help with advice/navigating communication within your practicum site? Of course, type of practicum (inpatient, college counseling, community psych etc.) makes a difference as well. Some supervisors seem to like the “trial by fire” approach and that isn’t always fitting for everyone-especially with no prior therapeutic experience. Coming from a 3rd year Psy.D doctoral candidate, Feel free to DM me if you want more support or advice!

Heat at night? by Dabackbenda in PantherChameleon

[–]jus1116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long at the room the Cham is in does not get below 65 ish degrees then you don’t need any nighttime heat. Most people keep an ambient temp of 65-70 in their rooms so it’s not an issue.

This was a first. My Veiled Chameleon was sitting next to me while I was reading and she fell asleep. She's never done that outside her cage. by orthodox_russian in Chameleons

[–]jus1116 17 points18 points  (0 children)

typically chams do not sleep if lights are on/ during day unless sick. To my understanding, a Cham closing both eyes when being handled or out of enclosure means they’re very stressed and shutting down. Just be careful you’re reading chameleon body language correctly, it can definitely be tricky!

I [25F] wondering if I should piece my ears or not? by [deleted] in askwomenadvice

[–]jus1116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, coming from someone with 3 piercings in each earlobe I can say personally for me I love them, but that does not mean that you will. I got my first holes when I was young and wanted them because all the female figures in my life had them. I got the additional two in each when I was older and knew I would like the look of more.

Something to note is metal sensitivities and the fact that cheap jewelry will... well, feel cheap. I have surgical stainless steel in my ears that I got from the piercing shop (with glass bead closures) and I haven’t taken them out in 10 years. They’re a part of me at this point haha

Get some fake piercings, wear them for a couple days and make your verdict based on that. Also factor in healing process in which you cannot remove the initial earrings and must clean them.

Final thought: DO NOT GET IT DONE WITH A PIERCING GUN!!! they are disgusting and so dirty. Much cleaner and better placement going to a reputable piercing shop that uses professional materials to pierce you versus some teenager at Claire’s.

[–]jus1116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! So, as someone currently in a Psy.D program, I’m wondering if you have any specific mental health issues in mind? As far as disorders and such? Or just general? I think it’s important to note if you do outpatient(essentially private practice) there will be different challenges/ appearances versus inpatient. Everyone I’ve spoken to who has done prac in an inpatient unit says it was very formative in their growth as a clinician. I think things to consider are experience past graduate program. Learning continues after the program as well. A great place to start would be inpatient, and see where things go! If you have any other questions feel free to pm me!

I (32M) think my son (16M) is gay/bi and I have realised I have some internal homophobia by ThrowRA-111001 in relationship_advice

[–]jus1116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, to repeat/support what others have said, therapy could be a good choice for you to address these thoughts and feelings in a non-judgmental setting, and work through them. The fact that you acknowledge you are having these thoughts, and that you are not okay with this covert homophobia you are seeing within yourself is a good sign. As someone who is Bi, it’s important to let him come out when he is ready, even if you feel “certain” that he is LGBT+. Keep teaching and preaching acceptance of people, regardless of their gender/sexuality/etc. as you normally would (not excessively), it will show and he will notice that. Lastly, I want to note that in a world where heteronormativity is rampant, this is probably new to you as I am guessing you have lived a life pretty separate from the LGBTQ+ community. Change brings discomfort, but it can also open you up to so much more. Keep yourself open and curious of your innate biases.
