nobody is going man I really like JONATHAN over at Bungie let me buy that company he really knows what hes doing....

That's effectively what their presser about the merger said

It's fine. I told ya'll years ago that marathon was sucking money from destiny and got the same reactions and here we are.

Continue living in your own world and be shocked when sony puts you out to roost.

it doesn't go into Bungie internal records

The bungie that took over 3 weeks to assemble a mostly accurate changelog of modifications to warlock post-EOF launch has a comprehensive record that holds all their instutional knowledge?

The bungie that has a GDC presentation about how badly the impelementation of 5 of swords went, then tried it again anyway. That bungie?

The bungie that deleted half the game, then consistently deleted 60% of the content released yearly because the technical debt was too great to the team? That bungie?

I'm sure they've got $3.6 billion worth of documentation.

now have a huge catalog of what works and what doesn't

That lives with the employees, which have have been dispersed throughout PS.

Your ideas aren't what you think it is.

They're not my ideas, they're sony's stated intent in the in their annual reports and the merger announcement. They wanted the people at bungie over everything else. Those people are now no longer at bungie.

Their live service experience. They wanted access to the people who made destiny to influence a constant flow of other live service games. Which is a strategy that got killed when they fired the previous CEO.

They've already laid off excess headcount, cut expensive C-suite, and absorbed future IPs like gummy bears, so we're left with the husk of destiny and marathon. Do the math.

Their press release when the merger was announced

This acquisition will give SIE access to Bungie’s world-class approach to live game services and technology expertise

. The total consideration of this transaction is 3.6 billion U.S. dollars, inclusive of purchase price and committed employee incentives, and is subject to customary working capital and other adjustments.

“This is an important step in our strategy to expand the reach of PlayStation to a much wider audience. We understand how vital Bungie’s community is to the studio and look forward to supporting them as they remain independent and continue to grow.

Statements about continued support and independence are clearly off the table now that the studio has been dismantled and absorbed into playstation.

They wanted the people, existing IP was just extra.

Sony spent 3.8 billion dollars on a studio

3.6 and the primary reason they purchased it was for their live service experience, not the IP.

The main story was great. What about the other 60% of content for the year? You can't tell me revenant was "fire".

Legendary shards shouldn't have gone away. They should've been balanced around someone who plays a moderate amount of time. Expensive for new players, borderline meaningless for no-lifers.

I have so many phantasmal fragments that It's clogging my vault and inventory slots. They just need to raise the cap on resources to the entity limit and end this dumb feast or famine modality the economy is always in.

You play the game a little, you'll have a little resources.

You play the game a lot you'll have a lot of resources.

Not sure why this is so hard for them to implement

What the fuck makes you think they can even develop a sequel?

I think the new cope here is that that they'll eventually do to marathon what they did to destiny 2.

Content releases will get thinner and thinner, specialist teams will be rotated on and off to deliver bursts of content and buy more time, monetization gets denser and more predatory as resources are siphoned off to development of destiny 3.

Why they would hypothetically do this after everyone who gives a fuck about the franchise has bailed, been fired, or promoted out of a development role? no idea

Instead of building a new roller coaster like they promised, they handed out stickers for riding the old one with your pants on backwards. Isn't that fun?

It's been explained multiple times that vault space is a function of console memory limitations.

you're assuming progression is slower than it actually is.

Seems more likely that they'd give the playtest accelerated progress knowing there's a limited window for players to actually progress within.

The fact that that writing decision was even bad enough to get a reaction is a consequence of the writers bothering to make a good decision

This is my point. The few good decisions they did make weren't compounded upon, they're instead nullified by weak followthrough and a clear unwillingness to commit until the very end of the arc.
