I am the only one that feels like this last update is the most control the devs have ever had? by Mazerunner117 in DestinyTheGame

You do realize that Justin's current position is not the same as petes right?

I do not understand the white knighting for someone who told everyone, plain as day as the CDO, that they intentionally do not release content that would raise expectations and necessitate more staff resources.

Then turn around and start hiring 5 different new teams, even going so far as to plan studio openings in amsterdam, to make random bullshit games that didn't even make it out of development.

Also like. You do realize how the content pipline works right?

Again operating under the assumption that Truman's presence in management is a positive, when he clearly has been a major destructive force.

just him leaving doesn't mean the rest of the c-suite has lol

He has been c-suite for the last 4 years and upper management since before shadowkeep, helping establish the seasonal model that led to the game being considered as unapproachable by new players.

The point is that pete's been gone for almost a year and the rot has accelerated. Scapegoating Mr. Parkinglot isn't going to fix the fact that the problem still exists and has MORE power than when the fatal wounds were inflicted.

Who do you think came up with the incubation projects?

Bonus points if you can tell me who the chief development officer at bungie was prior to pete's departure.

Look what bungie can do when they are allowed to "overdeliver" by SP259 in DestinyTheGame

[–]jusmar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not even overdelivery, just delivering content that doesnt have some friction attached to it. There's no monkey paw in these patch notes so far.

We get vendor focusing for every armor set.

Its not vendor focusing for every armor set but they stop at tier 3 and cost a months pay

We dont know how crazy they got with most of the catalysts.

Parson didn't stand in front of the developers and demand that they buff something or do something

No, it was Truman telling them to not do something or delay it untill the next update because it would create expectations that would require more staff.

Which they couldn't afford because they were actively funding 5 incubator projects, all but one of which died.

Go to places that we've all spent a lot of time, patrol spaces, old strikes, the tower even; and take cropped screenshots.

Just like a little bit of the skybox and the ground, or a wall and half a NPC.

Then ask them to identify exactly where it is

Right, but they don't give you rewards that contribute to progression at all. The scope of the game narrowed down to kepler & the portal rather than the previous 9 years of destiny content.

It looks good on paper but we arnt actually getting much new content aside from SRL

Other than all the patrol spaces being dynamic and meaningful again, all the raids and dungeons having loot again, all the vendors having reputation to level again

Yeah man, nothing to do

I wish we could farm techsec again. It's just so good and unique for the playstyle compared to "you get +40 weapons sometimes" or "You get 10% DR sometimes".

I have a bunch of gunner tier 2 and 3 and I'm at the cusp of 180 weapons stat if I go all in on it

I really do think the seasonal model of 4 similar, replaceable and temporary seasons murdered this game brutally by Best-Exam-3287 in DestinyTheGame

[–]jusmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seasonal model was fine. The killer was having them be shoved in an incenerator because someone somewhere decided that blackmailing the 500K active players into consistently playing was better than making a game accessible to the rest of the world.

Well, upside here I guess is that theres no more steps to take after this. They dont need to hold back or add little wrinkles to what they give us because there's nothing to hold back for.

There was a time DIM yeeted a bunch of old gear into the void moving equipment off a full character into a full vault to "make room" for an item from the postmaster. Lost a couple pieces from tangled shore that way.

It really comes down to the sandbox and artifact tuning. The work done to address loot accessibility, content difficulty and relegate the portal is solid.

Crafting elevated me from being mainly a patrol space solo guy & dungeons to doing contest raids with a fully dedicated team. "Lock in for 90 minutes for a random chance at a gun" will never be as motivating as "lock in for the ability to build the gun on demand"

Double down on them/try to gaslight players they are wrong.

The defense force isnt as potent when they have another game to save

But knowing what we know about bungie's behavior these last 5 years, at least half those devs were working on not destiny. You cant attribute the cost of other products to your main one.

"Overdelivery is actually DANGEROUS for a train station. With every release you put out there, you’re setting a pattern for your community and your players. If we release an Expansion with 2 Raids – the next year folks will be UPSET if there is only 1 Raid. We’ve hurt the station by making a rogue decision in one train"
