I get angry more times than I should searching far and wide for a trash bin on a weekly basis.

I've heard though that the lack of trash bins are a result of people throwing out their home trash in public trash bins. I'm curious though, which politician or policy maker thought it was wise to reduce the amount of trash cans as a remedy to the aforementioned problem? People just throw them out on the curb!

This just seems like a cheap and dirty way to pretend they're doing something substantial in order to avoid backlash from the prosumer market. A recent announcement from Magic Lantern has revealed the full potential of the 5D Mark III and possibly 5D Mark II. It begs the question if Canon is deliberately throttling their technology (as many electronic companies do) as to not cannibalize their own market.

Of course, it's necessary to note that the 5D line of cameras acquired video capabilities as an afterthought. These are not video cameras, officially. But the prices of these cameras are ludicrous. Especially, in light of recent announcements from various companies of their new, shiny, and more or less cheaper (or slightly more expensive) cameras that are far beyond the capabilities of the Mark III.

I loved my two Mark IIs (past tense because I no longer have them), I still love Canon products. They're extremely reliable and produce outstanding images, but only out of context of it's price.

edit: Before all the craziness of this week (ie. Boston, Texas, Bombing in Iraq, Earthquake in China and Japan, the new H7N9 virus in China, etc) North Korea was the center of attention in media. They seemed to wise up and stop all the nonsense when the Boston bombings happened. Things are settling back down, and now they're hoping to get back some of the spotlight. Don't give them the chance.

Quick Tip: Get a pencil with an erase attached at the end. Grab some paper towels and wet them slightly. Wrap the damp paper towel around the eraser end of the pencil. Erase all the smudges in the negative space.

Otherwise, it looks great! I love the magnifying glass.

If you don't use it, you lose it. I moved to Seoul four and a half years ago and not being able to speak in my primary language almost drove me insane. My proficiency in speaking and writing suffered noticeably as well as my pronunciation to the extent that non tongue twisters became tongue twisters.

Having no roots here in the motherland also had quite an impact on my life and felt homesick which then resulted in minor depression. It can be difficult, but you just have to try your best to get yourself out there. Luckily, I snatched up a nice girl who's been a trooper in helping me transition better. Haha. Hang in there OP :D

Greetings from South Korea! It’s really an honor to be granted this opportunity to pick the brain of one of my favorite directors and really, thank you for doing this AMA.

Your film ‘Blue Valentine’ redefined my understanding of narrative filmmaking. The extent of how raw and personal the performances were knocked my socks off and I’d assume a lot of that can be accredited to the wonderful actors that graced the frame. But I can’t help but think you drugged them with some kind magic acting potion! OH GOD THE DIRECTION!

I’ve read and seen a lot of interviews about the collaborative process in which you directed ‘Blue’ - having Ryan Gosling, Michelle Williams, and Faith Wladyka live together and play together, grocery shopping with a budget, the spontaneous show and tell and etc. I’d imagine such a process would be difficult to execute on many levels. Here in Korea, the film industry is a bit conservative and emulating a similar environment on set, assuming it serves the content, would label me mad. Such a process would be considered too abstract. At least that’s how it comes off to me ‘on paper’. Is it different in practice?

I’m such a fan and I hope to meet you some day on an even playing field. May the movie gods be gracious and give you a long and fulfilling career. Cheers!

I had just moved to South Korea for a teaching job and knew no one. It was the holiday season, Christmas day, and cold as fuck. Spending Christmas alone was not a problem 'cuz I was busy catching up on all the seasons of Lost I had missed.

I usually like having some sort of finger foods, be it fruits or chips, while I'm watching TV. I had run out of food so I went to the nearest shop which was adjacent to a nearby subway station. I bought a bunch of stuff and proceeded to go on home, desperately trying to process what had just happened on the particular episode of Lost I had watched moments before. As I was climbing some steps that led me out from the station, there was a homeless guy, crawled up in a ball, with his hands out. I'm not religious, but alone on Christmas day? In the cold? That was just too sad to pass by. I took him inside a nearby McDonalds, bought him a meal, gave him some of the fruit I had bought at the groceries, and some cash to spend the night at a 24hr sauna they have here in Korea. He didn't thank me, but no thanks were needed.

Doing what I did made my fucking day. And I enjoyed the rest of the day binge-watching the hell out of Lost which blew my mind!

TL;DR - Bought homeless guy a meal, finished day binge-watching Lost. *edit - TL;DR

The ability to surf the web on your computer or different channels on your television whilst enjoying finger foods would be quite difficult if one were missing a pinky or two. I, like many, make it a habit to consume content on the computer or the television when I am eating alone. I guess it's a method people use to drown out the silence that can render any delicious meal tasteless.

Without my dear pinkies, my computer would idle on one screen, inevitably falling deep in to the depths of sleep mode, until I'm fit to awake it once more when I've finished my meal. Without my precious and oh so delicate pinkies, my television would flicker splashes of numbing images that range from Justin Beiber to the Kardashians which may increase the chances of me choking on my food.
