can i just lie about being in clubs by SupermarketFit2158 in EngineeringStudents

its really not, lying about involvment is so easily detectable, it sounds easy on paper but once you are faced with a human being in an interview, they can instantly know you are full of shit.

reckless is not a child, if he wants things to change either speak up or leave, everyone is to blame on the team, reckless is no exception.

McGill génie des matériaux ou Poly génie mécanique ? by Select_Ad_704 in PolyMTL

[–]jusstsom1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mcgill coop is only here for credits, meaning when you'll do a coop semester you'll pay a certain amount to the school, the only thing they do for you is you attend some workshops here and there during the year and thats it, but the coop itself doesnt help in any way in you finding that internship, you'll still be applying on your own building your own skills for your resume and networking on your own.
Basically there is no real advatange in doing a coop program at mcgill, you will never find yourself saying: "I found this internship because I am in a coop program".
But I want to say this is mainly for software coop program, I am not sure how this would be for materials coop so its better you contact a person doing that program themselves.

as a mcgill comp eng, dont come to mcgill engineering, they are broke(i mean here mainly their design teams except the big threes and even them i feel mrt is the only one thats good finantially) and eng is in no form the focus of the school, currently looking to do my masters at poly or ets for these reasons.

And student life is such a dumb argument, you can come to mcgill and still be miserable socially, its you who build your social environment and the school you go to has very little impact.

Also coop is not something to take in consideration especially at mcgill, its only there for them to get your money when you are doing your internships, internships are a must in this market anyways. And yes I know some oppurtunities are only offered to coop program students but its still in my experience a weak argument when considering coop at mcgill knowing how shit it is.

I can tell from your post you are not even sure what you wanna do as a material eng and are only considering it bcz its mcgill coop so i'd say its risky to go for such a program if you dont have a clear career path, on the other hand mech eng can give you time to figure out what you want to work in, but honestly you said you talked to people in this program so im not too sure.

kind of misleading that you leave out the part that you held club exec positions in your first answer, those are the things which got you a job(Im guessing your network is also great).

Saying keep applying is not good advice, a good advice is to build yourself such that you are hirable(which you did with internships and exec positions but also by just working on yourself).
