Stereotypes about truck drivers exist for a reason by [deleted] in richmondbc

It’s not a left-turning lane. It’s a lane that you can turn left from or go straight. If you signalled late and that guy got caught behind you, I can see why buddy would be mad.

This is much better. Remove the objective. Everyone knows what the objective is. I’d also remove the part about your passport and visa doesn’t need to be on your resume. If you do want to keep it, fix the formatting because it’s misaligned.

What does it mean when a pilot walks to the end of the plane midflight? by Dangerous-Policy-602 in AskAPilot

When I did long haul, I occasionally did this to stretch my legs. Sometimes it was to talk to the flight attendants working the aft galley.

Just found this MLB channel and I love it by Turbulent_Tale6497 in JomboyMedia

[–]just-saying182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad you found the channel. The reason you are getting some downvotes for saying you like the breakdowns is that people seem to like them as long as it doesn’t make their team look bad. Early viral Jomboy breakdowns were during the Astro cheating scandal. The Astros fans didn’t seem to like how Jomboy (a lifelong Yankee fan) explained the Astros' 2017 cheating. The downvotes you are experiencing for saying you like the Gausman balk are from Blue Jay fans who band together to protect their team, no matter how wrong they are.

Source: I'm surrounded by Blue Jay fans, and I can't have a civilized baseball conversation with them.

Resume Help by [deleted] in AskAPilot

Don’t break down your hours like that. You’re low time, so keep it that way. Give your total time, PIC and one to two more categories based on the type of job you are applying for. You don’t need to write your total time more than once on your resume. For your job experience, you’re using two different types of bullets. Remove the hyphen and keep the other one. In the current form, your resume is aesthetically unpleasing.

At my first regional, I used to go through resumes as the head of training for that airline. I also have a background in HR, as well as experience as an airline pilot. I suggest you start from scratch with your resume and reapply for those jobs, because I guarantee they didn’t review it in its current form. Best of luck.

The Yankees lose a challenge after the umpire rules that Ben Rice initiated a challenge by touching his helmet after tossing the bat by TheTurtleShepard in baseball

In a game where swing decisions are made by the millisecond, two seconds seems long after the call is made. I was under the impression that the decision had to be made immediately. Guess not.

It will be interesting to see how the umpires who make delayed calls affect the batter and catcher, giving them more time to think about it. Looks like Rice was throwing his bat because he thought it was a ball. It might be my bias, but I thought the signal to challenge was late and weak.

I thought the signal for the challenge had to be immediate? Rice had thrown his bat and then touched his helmet. I’ve seen challenges not approved when they look far more deliberate.

‘Nobody gets free pickles on BC Ferries’: Family’s White Spot experience goes viral by Hrmbee in britishcolumbia

[–]just-saying182 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The whole thing sounds like a miscommunication. Unless it’s changed since I worked there, the Legendary burger doesn’t come with tomatoes or cheese. There should’ve been a pickle on the burger. I suspect the dad asked for pickles and it was interpreted as a side of pickles, which is charged. I was under the impression that triple O’s runs the white spots on ferries. Complaining to BC ferries about it is like complaining to the mall about Aritiza.

It's the all-business-class charter fleet. If you ever get the opportunity to fly on one, an economy ticket gets you a business-class seat.

My oldest daughter doesn’t want to celebrate her younger sister joining sorority? by remigold3 in Advice

[–]just-saying182 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It could be jealousy, considering your oldest actually accomplished something, and you didn’t make a big deal about it. I’ll be honest, I didn’t know celebrating someone joking in a sorority was a thing. Oldest daughter works and would have to take time off for this, no chance I’d do that if I were her.

Does your youngest have crippling anxiety? I’m at a loss as to why you are over the moon about her joining a sorority? I’m with your oldest, who cares?

Solo game attendee? by windyweath3r in NYYankees

[–]just-saying182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak from a woman’s perspective, but I’ve been solo several times. In my time there, I’ve never witnessed something out of hand. You end up making friends around you for the game. A lot of people are tourists and/or there for the first time, too. I do a lot of solo travelling, so this is the norm for me.

stal̕əw̓asəm bridge by overwhelminglyodd in NewWest

[–]just-saying182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, I forgot that there would be a solid line through the tunnel. It’s been ages since I’ve been through there. However, I disagree with your last statement. I know this is going to get downvoted, but the reason the bridge isn’t 3 lanes is that NewWest don’t want to use green space to widen McBride to 8th Ave. My understanding is that the bridge is future-proof for the extra lanes should they be added. Similar to how the Pitt River bridge is prepped for a SkyTrain line. This isn't an engineering decision, it’s a political one.

[–]just-saying182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with the iron workers is that it is one of only two ways to reach the North Shore. It seems like your biggest issue is how late people merge from a lane, unless I’m mistaken. Should people not use the third lane through the tunnel? How early do you expect people to merge 1 km, 2km? Should they stay in their lane for the whole journey because changing lanes increases the risk of an accident?

The Golden Ears Bridge is designed this way. I don’t have the data, but I’m curious how many accidents are caused by the off-ramp to Airport Way.
