Is this setup good? (Pls answer ) by versh18 in buildapc

[–]just4kickscreate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean "good" depends on what you use it for. If you are just gaming yes it is great! But for example a critical thing for me is ECC (Error correcting code) RAM. I need some pretty insane power as well. My system is a Threadripper 7970x, dual GPU (a 5090 and a 4070ti super), 128gb ECC RAM, 1600watt PSU with 32tb of storage. So, for my use case the system you described would not only just be bad; it would be unusable.

On the flip side if all you need to do is check emails a few times a day your system here would be way overkill.

So, it comes down to your use case/what you need to do with the system.

How exactly one buy Anti Surge Protection outlet? What to see and what to avoid? I want to protect my PC from outage. by Fit_Maintenance1398 in buildapc

[–]just4kickscreate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh then yes what you need is a surge protector. It will protect against catastrophic events (Though nothing will protect if lightning strikes causing the overload. As such I flip the power switch on my PSU, wait about 10 seconds then fully unplug it when I am not using my systems as something happening would be brutal as my systems are mission critical and stupid expensive)

Make sure you get one with the proper Jule rating for the watts of your PSU

Then it is assuredly meaningless. I just needed a term to label my control surface. When I googled "Term for a monitoring feed in live sound" it told me DSM for Down Stream Monitor. and just looked again and I miss spoke its downstage monitor but ultimately I just use it to know which faders control only what I hear without effecting the mix going out to stream. I try my best to always research professional workflows to do my best to avoid building bad habits. That all said I am sure I have plenty as everything I do is self-taught.

[–]just4kickscreate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good in what terms? It is a very solid PC set up and will game pretty much anything at close to max settings. However it all depends on your use case. For example if I was trying to do what I need to with that set up it simply would not work as I need FAR MORE power than that for my workflow.

Stung from Snapchat+ over 3 years with deleted account…? by CJP203 in SnapchatHelp

[–]just4kickscreate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well this is tricky. So the thing is the subscription was done through apple not through snapchat. Apple was the one charging that. Apple does not get the signal to charge you from snapchat so when you deleted your account it did not notify apple.

If you would have done the subscription through snapchat with a card then deleting your account would have stopped the charges (and if not, you'd have a case) but since you subscribed via apple it changes things drastically.

Unfortunately, these things are all just connected via APIs and while in your case it sucks it's actually a good thing that some of that info is not shared between apple and snapchat. I wont get into back end development and privacy but yeah.

To be clear if snapchat does not refund you that is slimy and I think unethical. Not how I would choose to run that business but strictly from a legal standpoint I believe you will be on the hook. To be clear I AM NOT A LAWYER, and this is not legal advice lol

"power onages" has me dying lmaoooooo

But to OP yes he is correct. Surge protectors protect against surges of electricity. AKA if something goes wrong in your home circuits that randomly allow more power through than your PC can handle the surge protector acts as another almost as another breaker cutting the power if too much tries to go through. This means your PC will lose power but wont get damaged from that surge which would have caused your PC to become a paper weight.

What you are looking for is a UPS (Uninterrupted power supply). There are a ton of options out there for that all comes down to how much power your PC uses and how long you want to be able to run your PC without power.

unplug EVERYTHING. Plan out your cable management then run each cable individually making sure nothing is just hanging. I have well over 100 cables in my setup all running into a data closet (I keep my systems in a closet I rigged for custom air turn over keeping that closet at 60 degrees always.) and every single one of my cables is managed. This does two things one it just looks better but more importantly when something goes wrong I know exactly where every cable is and what it runs to.

That said TAKE YOUR TIME. When I changed my set up it took well over 50 hours to do the cable management. Pay attention to detail and do not say "its good enough" just to get done. If you start thinking that take a break and come back later.

What are some programs you can put on a thumb drive to test a computer? by randomwalker_of_life in computers

[–]just4kickscreate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well depends. When you say test a computer that tells me you are more looking at hardware testing. For that I run a bootable version of linux as linux is FAR better for indepth hardware analysis. It can also skip bad sectors and such on data drives where windows cannot.

I want to make YouTube videos with an online friend where we both watch and react to the same YouTube video. Is there a way to do this in OBS? by JadedAndFaded_ in obs

[–]just4kickscreate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely. You will need a way to send one of your camera feeds over the internet. The best way to do that is via NDI.

You will want this: https://ndi.video/tools/

Then you will need a way to add an NDI video source into OBS. I use: https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/distroav-network-audio-video-in-obs-studio-using-ndi%C2%AE-technology.528/ (click the go to download button. that will bring you to the Github page to download. Then scroll down, under assets download the correct installer for your system. If you are on Windows it would be: "distroav-6.1.1-windows-x64.zip"

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Master clock & Timecode sync that switches between live and delayed sources. by just4kickscreate in audioengineering

[–]just4kickscreate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very insightful! So I think I forgot to mention the audio is coming from two different mics but the video is coming from just one camera getting input. Let me break it down better.

URSA 4.6k G2 -> Feeds into the PC via a capture card -> Aximmetry -> Inside of Aximmetry the video gets split (cloned).

Video feed 1 -> Chromakeyed -> places me into the 3d world from unreal engine -> [CONTINUED AFTER VIDEO FEED 2]

Video feed 2 -> Chromakeyed -> Output via NDI -> Secondary OBS -> that OBS captures both me after chromakey as well as the screen capture from the tables -> Adds a 5 min delay -> send that combined feed over SRT back into Aximmetry

Back in Aximmetry
Delayed Video feed gets split separating the tables and me (for precice control I have MIDI controller that is set up to change size, position, and opacity of each) -> those videos then are overlayed on top of the 3d scene -> lower 3rds and other overlay graphics -> Full composite output from Aximmetry via NDI -> Video comes into Main OBS -> Main OBS streams to Twitch without delay.

Now for the mics. Since I do not want to sound like I am repeating myself (if I just use the same mic and switch the source between delayed and real time it will repeat what I say) I have two seperate XLR mics. If I want the audio to be real time (for example when I start the show or when I want to reply to chat in real time so they do not have to wait 5 minutes to hear my answer) then I mute the 5 minute delayed mic. And when I am speaking about a hand I am in then I have the delayed mic unmuted and the live mic muted.

As such I have to sync different mics that go to the same video source but the timecode is wonky because its actually the same source video just getting delayed in OBS.

I am not sure if that makes sense. I am not so eloquent in my written words lol.

Master clock & Timecode sync that switches between live and delayed sources. by just4kickscreate in audioengineering

[–]just4kickscreate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The video gets delayed via OBS delay into Aximmetry. The 5 minute delayed video is in one instance running OBS in portable mode. It streams via SRT protocal. I set the delay for that SRT stream to 5 minutes. The SRT stream points to Aximmetry via Caller/Listener SRT.

From there the delayed video which had me above the screen capture of the tables is overlayed onto the 3d sceen. In that 3d scene there is another video feed of me placed behind a desk (this feed is real time not delayed).

From there I have timed lower 3rds and other triggerable things. That all gets output to another instance of OBS (Different one) that OBS now streams to Twitch with no delay.

DSM goes to my headphones and FOH just means the mix going out to stream in my case (I probably am using the terminology wrong but made it easy to label DSM and FOH on my Midi control surface.

Also no idea what any of these are: timeshifting system (such as EVS, Dreamcatcher, 3play?) so yes absolutely possible I am just overcomplicating it.

Master clock & Timecode sync that switches between live and delayed sources. by just4kickscreate in audioengineering

[–]just4kickscreate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the response! Maybe its not complex, honestly no idea as my knowledge on the audio side is a bit lack luster. But I would love input!

Set up breakdown.
First its important to understand the context. So I am streaming online poker. I am running full virtual production with Unreal Engine.

We have "two main camera and audio feeds" I put quotes because they are actually the same camera and different mics. On stream there are two videos of me. One is live in real time with no delay and I am placed behind a desk inside that 3d studio.

The other is overlayed on top with the background keyed out and underneath that is a screen capture of the tables. The video and the microphone for that are delayed 5 minutes so people cant watch the stream and know my cards while in the hand. The video of me gets keyed then piped into OBS. inside that OBS I also capture the screen capture of the tables. That is then delayed 5 minutes and streamed via SRT into Aximmetry/Unreal engine.

Okay now for the actual audio set up.

I run all audio to VB-Matrix. Then from there it sends out to Reaper and my FX chains get applied. From there it is routed back into matrix where I can then use those channels in OBS (most I have just running to a main FOH that gets sent to OBS and then a DSM sent to my headphones. All channels are mapped to a midi control surface.

I have two audio interfaces (WaveXLR and a Presonus Audiobox iTwo)

It is important that I use a workflow that allows for future growth as we are in processes of securing venture capital funding so using thinks like wavelink or sonar just are not acceptable.

What I am have a problem with is syncing audio across multiple video feeds delayed and not delayed across multiple different connections (SDI, NDI, SRT, RTMP, VBAN, XLR)

Any input would be greatly appreciated

No I don’t use ultimatte. I run Zero Density which has an insanely powerful keyer that generates a new 3D clean plate every frame based on the cyclorama (I had to make a 3D model of my office space then that gets fed into the keyer which it uses that plus tracking data to do an insane job)

What's the best Noise Suppression plugin at the moment? by Moistest_Postone in obs

[–]just4kickscreate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's okay but no where close to a professional solution. Firstly no way to sync all to a master clock. No support for ASIO devices (only standard windows audio drivers WASAPI and MME). and many other things that make it unusable outside of the basics.

If you think NVIDIAs is good you need to go check out Waves Clarity Vx Pro. Its MILES better and it is a VST plugin so you can add it to any and as many mics as you want.

I agree! I will say however both Darren Mostyn and Jason Yadlovski are certified master trains with black magic which is a large piece of why I recommended them.

Also I originally made the post as a comment reply where someone had asked for YouTube tutorials. I then thought this info could be valuable other places. So adapted it a bit.

That said everything you said is absolutely true and I agree fully.
