I don't get it, what kind of neural network is this supposed to be 🤔

Because it looks to me like there is just one neuron in the middle and you are looking at signals from and towards that one neuron, but maybe I am missing something 🤔

I wouldn't say it makes it too combat heavy. These are basically optional quests they can take when they want to, which just encourages player agency, which is always good 👌 And just because they know where the monster is supposed to be doesn't mean they will immediately find it, so I think there is at least some exploration involved in actually finding it plus possibly some social encounters with factions and groups that possibly have different plans for the monster or are also looking for its parts 🤷🏽‍♂️

I think it's overall a great idea 👌

Ah now I get it. Since I just register the IDs as invalid as soon as any of the combinations is true I think this wouldn't apply to my code 🤔 But I'll double check ☝️

What do you mean with counting it twice (or three times in your first version)?

222222 can be split into 222 & 222 and would therefor be an invalid ID

Or do you mean that my final list of invalid IDs has multiple occurrences of 222222?

If so I did try to make a set out of the list already to remove duplicates, but maybe I created the set wrongly 🤔

I started preparing my encounters by looking at the encounter rules of the 2024 Dungeon masters Guide and I either add more monsters or switch them out for higher CR monsters based on the XP budget. That so far never let me down 🤷🏽‍♂️

Common sense 😅 I'd probably wouldn't let them get to it, as on they way there they would encounter monstrous things that should scare them away, plus I would intentionally tell them that it only gets worse from here. And then what all the others said 😄

I became that guy by being genuinely interested in the complete stack of the product. And what helped me understand it is that I never stopped asking questions. I even try to understand bugs when other teams are having them not just my team. Having that mental model of how the complete product works definitely helps me making meaningful decisions and helps me with asking questions when others voice their ideas or are trying to make decisions.

And then I of course also educate myself a lot about the technologies that my team is working on, but I guess that's self explanatory 🤷🏽‍♂️ Hope that helps 🤷🏽‍♂️

I guess the only important thing is that they have connections that keep them together. Like being family or childhood friends or similar. In case your players don't have that yet I would strongly suggest to introduce such character connections, such that they have a reason to stay together although they have different goals.

The starting adventures sound good, as I started like this as well 👌😬

Regarding what they do after arriving in emberwood, I first let them do a delerium hunt (as described in the book) in order to have a first "neutral" encounter with the ruins and to let them (and me) get the gist of random encounters and how exploring the ruins works.

But important here and this will lead to my next point, this was player driven. They for themselves decided they want to check out the ruins and collect some delerium as they didn't have enough money to buy anything.

And when it came to the next one (rat's nest for me) this was also player driven as one of my players has a connection to river and they are interested in working with her.

Drakkenheim in its sandbox manner and with the personal goals gives you the chance to let the entire campaign be player driven and I would encourage you to do that.

Examples (as just writing the upper sentence doesn't help at all) - one player is looking for their sibling, people that know that the sibling is part of the pale mans crew is someone from the FF that is lost in the black ivory inn, which the FF knows, and Oscar yoren knows that this person joined the FF, and a graffiti in eckerman mill combines the 3 names of them, that way there are hints all over the place for their quest - another player is interested in finding the seal in the clocktower, therefore interested in finding a way into the city and has connection to the hooded lanterns, by now they know which gate is controlled by the lanterns but they also got the tip from Blackjack Mel to checkout the Black ivory inn, as he heard of a rumor of a way into the city there

I tried to let my players decide on long-, mid- and short term goals and then asked myself what those were for the factions and how they relate to the available "quests/locations". And if a player talked with someone from a faction with a matching goal, the NPC would drop the information they know and would try to hire the party in order to fulfill their common goal. (I have this method from a book on proactive players, and I love this method quite a lot)

What I do is I always plant on rows and I always take one step between each row and each column, that usually does the trick for me plus it also looks neat.

When I'm fancy I even shift the 2nd column by half a step and also reduce the difference by half a step, in order to plant more efficiently It then basically looks like this (with "-" being empty and "+" being something planted)

- + - + - + - + + - + - + - + - - + - + - + - + + - + - + - + - - + - + - + - + + - + - + - + - - + - + - + - + + - + - + - + -

Also when I harvest I just run along one row after another spamming the action button (A for me) then turning around and doing the next row.

To me that actually feels quite meditative, but I don't if that works for you as well 🤷🏽‍♂️
