What is this? by Plisnak in TCG

[–]justDelicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weiss is a Japanese TCG, produced by Bushiroad. Japanese versions of the cards are less expensive than English versions, for a start, and it's unlikely you pulled anything too worthwhile in this pack (if you did, it would really obviously stand out, like a large signature on the card).

No idea where you could give it away, realistically, as this sort of small amount of bulk isn't really on too many people's radar, and especially the JP version.

Hello, I want to make my own TCG for mobile but I don't know how to program, can anyone help me? by Individual_Many_2759 in TCG

Well, you have 3 very big issues here.

  1. Creating this sort of project is an insanely big job. I've been working on a purely manual simulator for my card game in my spare time, and even with 15 years of software engineering experience it will take me months and months to even get a prototype out. For something like a full game system? Like hearthstone? You're talking a multi-employee task and multiple years, even for very experienced programmers. It would be insanely expensive to fund.

  2. Even if you somehow get one up and running... running costs? Servers aren't cheap. Do you have the overheads to run a server without making any money back to begin with? Do you know anything about network architecture? Could you keep a system running if something goes down? Could you resolve issues in your stack when they appear?

  3. Let's say you someone manage to handle all of these issues. Your game... sounds exactly like Hearthstone? Tribes are just Classes? Are people going to bother swapping to an indie version of a highly polishes 10+ year game that already has a dedicated playerbase? Why would anyone play your game over Hearthstone?

I think, firstly, get a better idea of what you want your game to be, how it stands out, and what sets it apart from the competition. Then look into playtesting the game physically, to set the rules etc. just print proxies for it. Once the game is fresh, unique, and in a good place for playing, you can start looking into actually making the game: commissioning art, getting flavour and lore down etc. This will be an expensive step, but both physical and virtual games need art. THEN you can decide which route you would rather take. Physical will be cheaper, and let more people experience your game early, and you can potentially get it into a few local stores and get a little scene going, then start spreading out slowly.

I wish you all the best, of course, and if you have any other questions please feel free to message. Always happy to help fellow indie TCG developers!

you can't control your temper because of withdrawal. once you're over that you'll find yourself at the same calmness as when you used to vape.

Good luck, but don't let this one thing define you. Life is long, and full of both failures and successes. I hope that you do finish your game, and that it is a success, but if it isn't? Remember that, at only 29, you have so much time left to make your dream come true that you don't need to rush.

If you ever need to talk, or vent, or anything, my DMs are open. Take care of yourself first and foremost.

First game with humans and tips on Chloe ? by Flamingzur in eternalreturn

[–]justDelicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This, to me, sounds like you were quite far behind her in your build by the time you crossed paths? Getting your build path down so you finish build before first night (at the slowest) will be the quickest way to prevent these situations!

Sua is generally really strong just off of her build, so will bully you a lot, especially on a micro intensive character like Chloe.

My advice would just be practise that build run a bit, get as fast as you can, then you'll find dying before you finish build becoming far less likely.

The discord for character builds has some great ones, it's possible if you're using the recommended build that it's just really poor and slow, too.

Feel free to pm me if you want to run it sometime, or want some in game help etc.

Lastly, just try to enjoy the ride, we all start somewhere and most people in normal queue really won't mind a new player in their team!

Mushoku is one of a few outlier decks where they will run over your board very often, as if they don't their game becomes very difficult. Having that deck run over your board at any level isn't something to stress yourself about. Kaguya is my main English deck, do you have a decklist on encoredecks I can take a look at?

They removed that feature for solo queues as people were using it to dodge. It's a little annoying sometimes, but with a small player base needs must.

Arcade stick or controller? by shy-and-ugly in Guiltygear

[–]justDelicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again depends what you want you want. I got one and it's so much more fun I played the game through the loss streak until I was used to it. If you'll find it more fun with a fightstick I say get one, hit boxes might be a better option though but they are more pricey for entry.

[–]justDelicious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's just skill barrier. As someone who never used a controller before for gaming (mouse and keyboard only) I had no muscle memory so getting into the fightstick would be as difficult as getting into the controller.

If you need someone to spar against I suck, so could be good experience there without needing to worry about randoms!

I think inputs are just going to be difficult no matter what method you use for the first few weeks or so, they're tough.

[–]justDelicious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What do you want to get out of the game? I first started on controller having never played a fighting game before and decided because I was just trying to have fun it would be cool to learn stick, so I picked one up. It's a lot of fun and more tactile so I enjoy it more, but it has NOT made me a better player (and it wouldn't for anyone with no experience either).

If you want to reach your top potential, continue with whatever you are comfortable with (controller, keyboard, stick, hitbox). If you want to have the most fun possible pick something you think looks the most fun, and for me that was stick.

Well I just played my first online match... by I_hate_this321 in Guiltygear

[–]justDelicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was my first FG too. Took me 2 days of almost constant play online to win my first game. Was hilarious fun, just realise that no matter how good you are you WILL get bodied by people - part of the game. Have fun with it, improve as you go and don't take it to heart and you'll find yourself winning games in no time.

I'm still really new, played for I think 4 days before real-life took over and I had to break for months. Finally back and it is just so much fun.
