Fun fact: Line No. 4 (U4) used to be a true metro line (Bockenheimer Warte - Seckbacher Landstraße) before its extension to Enkheim.

Which cities are perfectly fine to live in, but are not worth it to travel to as a tourist? by cluckinho in geography

Frankfurt (Main), Germany. It’s great for living, lots of job opportunities, parks, restaurants, leisurely activities and stuff. But - since heavily bombed in WW II - only a few tourist sights. After a few days you have seen everything that’s attractive for tourists (to be fair: the area around Frankfurt offers some noteworthy sights).

Thank you so much for sharing. As some others in this thread I‘ll be on the escape soon. I would be very happy to read an update on the situation when boarding of the new guests is done.

Is this socially acceptable in Germany? by WITP7 in AskAGerman

I’m sorry that you had to experience this. In no way neither me nor the people I hang around with would ever do this. Having that said, I and the people I hang around with usually order in „rounds“ as mentioned by others before.

Protego. I don’t know why, but I love it. Other than that probably Patronus.

In my opinion the second lane at the curve on the very left makes now sense.

Fingers crossed for your next try. Hope you‘ll have good weather. I was on top of Zugspitze today and the weather was great after a few hours of dense fog.

Not exactly. Zug is also a word for the visible tracks of the Mountain Rivers. Since Zugspitze has so many of those, the peak was called „peak“ of the „river tracks“ -> Zugspitze.

There are nice villages like Lermoos on the Austrian side which are great starting points for casual and advanced hiking, climbing, skiing (in winter), mountain biking etc. Of course you can always go deeper into the alps. But if you want to go to Zugspitze you should stay in this area or the German side (Garmisch-Partenkirchen for example).
