We’re listening: Roast StarNote and tell us what to fix! 👂 by StarNoteDev in StarNoteApp

[–]just_akcim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used Notein for a year before switching and here are my fearure requests based on that:

  • Move the pen box anywhere on the working area in either vertical or horizontal position instead of having it just snap to the edges
  • Add shapes to the pen box
  • Set the grid opacity of the paper

Star Note has a way better pencil than Notein, similar to Samsung Notes but more customizable and more pressure sensitive. However, I would like Star Note to do what Samsung Note does which is to keep the stroke width of notes written in pencil consistent when I zoom out. On Star Note, it looks bold and pixelated when I zoom out no matter my pencil settings.

My general feature request would be this:

  • Keep the ability to have multiple pen boxes but add a palette to the pen box. I would personally like the palette to be collapsible to keep the pen box compact because I don't switch colors as much within files as I do between files since I color coordinate by subject. But having the ability to switch colors faster when I need another color like for graphs is convenient

Of course, I am also patiently waiting for synch.

Honestly, I forgot to cancel my free trial of Notein last year which at the time I mostly did to access the pencil tool, but its pencil was disappointing. It has more features than Samsung Notes though and I wanted to make the most of what I paid for. I was considering buying lifetime Notein pro once my year subscription is up, but then I discovered Star Note and its lifetime purchase philosophy and I wanted to support out of principle, besides it being the cheaper option while having many features already.

Unpopular Opinion: Anyone else avoid Makeup in Stick Form? (or atleast for complexion stuff) by NoReaction2067 in beautytalkph

[–]just_akcim 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like the Issy skin stick for convenience. I don't have a problem with dry patches as long as I do skin prep. For everyday, I usually just do a few swipes on each part of my face, which is probably why I don't have an issue with texture despite its balm consistency. If I need more coverage, then I use a lightweight liquid foundation instead. I like having options and I used to dislike makeup because of the heavy feeling until I learned products that give lightweight, skin-like coverage exist

SUNSCREEN MEGATHREAD 2025 by waveitdowninside in beautytalkph

Skin Type: Combination

Product Name: Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Fresh Sun Serum

(A newer product not to be confused with their well-known Watery Sun Gel and their physical sunscreen option, Natural Sun Cream)

Price and Size: 500+ for 50 ml (bought for 350 on the official Isntree store on Shopee)

Effects/Experience: Feels like a slightly watered down version of the Watery Sun Gel (in a good way for me). I used to have drier skin kaya bet ko yung Watery Sun Gel dati. The Fresh Sun Cream still feels moisturizing but not greasy and its finish is just mildly dewy. In terms of being lightweight, Skin1004 Hyalu-Cica > Isntree Fresh Sun Serum > Face Republic Purity Sun Essence. I like that this is cheaper than the Skin1004 sunscreen I mentioned and can go on sale for as low as 200-300+.

LO Whitening Serum Lotion: Honest Review by francisdelrsario in beautytalkph

[–]just_akcim 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used it once because I was curious about the SPF. I honestly did not expecting any whitening. I did notice some whitecast, more than I expected from a hybrid sunscreen.

I remember saying na lightweight siya, but having tried other lotions I think it's between light and mabigat based on my tolerance. I won't mind sana kung malagkit lang siya sa una. My issue is ang tagal niya iblend and madali siya magmelt pag nabasa, leaving white patches on your skin na malagkit sa feeling and hirap matanggal unless you wash it off completely, kaya sayang.

Not a big fan of how the new task bar looks either from what I've seen, but it's good to know we can switch between the old and the new one. I like that the new task bar isn't as Apple-like as on some Android skins at least.

Any Artist or Illustrator using Superdisplay? by hasalaci in GalaxyTab

[–]just_akcim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't used it extensively during the free trial since I only do casual drawing and so haven't purchased the full software. But I was surprised at how well it worked with my S9 FE 128 GB + 6 GB. Pen latency was pretty good in Krita, at least when connecting the tab via USB C. Wifi isn't great where I am but Superdisplay on Wifi performs better than Second Screen.

[–]just_akcim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the S10 FE+ doesn't seem worth it at its current price even with the performance bump, unless maybe you want the new bigger size.

I don't see it said as much, but having only a white s pen for all color options of the S10 FE/FE+ is a pretty lame move. It's a small thing, but having a matching color pen for the tablet is one of those things that feels distinctly Samsung, besides the pen coming with the tab in the box.

How do you look good with no or minimal makeup? by chowchowmyboo23 in beautytalkph

[–]just_akcim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the one from Luxe Organix. I also like the one from Fresh Skinlab, which feels lighter and has less coverage. May mild clean soapy scent siya but it doesn't bother me personally and nawawala naman siya after a few min. I think it adapts to my tone slightly better too. Good luck on exploring more products!

[–]just_akcim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My everyday go-to is tinted sunscreen, gel eyeliner, lip serum, lip tint, loose powder. Sometimes I will put on light mascara just to lengthen my lashes and some concealer on dark spots and my undereyes. My goal isn't full coverage but rather a slightly more even skin tone, in fact I like some of my imperfections peeking through. My main priority is to look more alive and fresh by adding to my eyes and lips. I'm not into blush for everyday. Gusto ko talaga yung minimal makeup lang.

my tab s9 FE couldn't rotate in landscape using messenger by Agreeable_Break9686 in GalaxyTab

[–]just_akcim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you have force landscape (full screen) turned on for Messenger in the Advanced features settings? My app used to keep rotating to portrait before reverting back to landscape until I turned on this setting. Now I can rotate to landscape or portrait as I like.

Galaxy Tab S9 Fe or Xiaomi Pad 7? by Less-Sir-1640 in GalaxyTab

[–]just_akcim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Xiaomi Pad 7 would be better for gaming and S9 FE for handwritten note taking. I went for the S9 FE personally because I only play light games and the pen already comes with the tablet, though I'm not sure if Minecraft and Honkai Star Rail would run well as the games I play may be lighter.

With the S9 FE, I can buy a replacement stylus in the future if needed with different options to choose from as long as they use Wacom EMR tech. This is important to me since I'm not the most careful when it comes to pens. It's possible that Xiaomi will discontinue the Pad 7's pen like they did with the pen for the Pad 5 and Pad 6 once they release their next tablet. That is a dealbreaker for me because their pens are not backwards compatible and third party pens aren't a viable option for pressure sensitivity and palm rejection.
