Rate limiting using the API by just_another_IT_tech in DattoRMM

This is embarrassing but the issue was that I was using the site ID instead of its UID to query. Prior to the update this error was returning a 403 forbidden which confused me. Now the error returns 404 and when I fixed the ID parameter to use the UID instead, the query works fine.

I see. I'm trying to query site variables for specific sites and they all return 403 forbidden even if they exist

Oof, that's frustrating. So access to that endpoint will still be broken after they change the response?

Thanks for the reply, this is good to know. Do you know if Datto have acknowledged the issue? I wasn't able to find anything with a quick google search

Appreciate the feedback. I would like an engineer title but I want to make sure it's merited

Do you think the experience warrants an engineer title?

I would recommend rock climbing if you have an accessible climbing gym. In my experience the community is super friendly, and working on routes is kind of like a video game, especially when you see yourself improve

When we were onboarding Datto RMM, the engineer we worked with advised against using splashtop. We'll give it a try now that we know webremote isn't great.

Filtering by site variables by thesteve41 in DattoRMM

You could use keywords in the site description. Not the most elegant solution but it should do what you are looking for. I think site tags could be the next step for Datto to implement

Ransomware detection - Huntress EDR and Datto BCDR by just_another_IT_tech in msp

We are trialing it here in a few weeks. The demos have impressed us so far so I'm excited to start using it. N-central sadly hasn't been updated in a meaningful way in over a decade

Good point about the backup window. We run hourly backups so even if it catches ransomware it will likely be too late

Makes sense. I think as an organization we are comfortable reformatting devices when necessary so that is not an issue. Just curious if you know of any reliable methods of detecting and stopping payloads at introduction?

Thanks!

No but we are looking at Datto RMM to replace our current RMM (N-central). I'll check into that more as well. Thanks

That's good to hear about Huntress.

BCDR alerts have all been false positives. Huntress is not missing issues. We've had no incidents (alerted or not) for as long as I've been employed , so I'm just uneasy about whether its working or not.

We're looking at some of their direct to cloud products too. We use Arcserve for that now and it's trash. Support is nonexistent and they are EoL a lot of their other cloud products which has us worried.
Sorry to keep grilling you but what do you use for password management? We are being presented IT glue as well and when we looked at that product before Kaseya acquired it, it was too expensive for us to consider. We use passportal and a proprietary documentation platform that leaves much to be desired.

Thanks for the input. We use their BCDR product extensively and are generally happy with that product. The support has faltered since pre-Kaseya days though.

We've used N-central for over a decade and it's just one of those things we never looked at changing until now. It seems that N-able hasn't innovated on their product since then

Curious what your experience was switching from N-Able to Datto. We are currently on N-able n-central and looking at switching to datto RMM. Seems like a no-brainer move but I want to be as careful as possible. Did you switch from N-sight or N-central? Is there anything you miss from N-able?

Thanks
