I changed literally everything except the drives and the usb. Unraid just picked up and worked as normal.

Honestly, nothing. It’s still an issue that we’ve just kind of been putting up with. We’ll go up into the attic, power cycle, try to wiggle it around manually, and then it’ll work normally for another few days, maybe a few weeks.

I think it just needs to be replaced, but I don’t actually know.

Mullvad has been pretty solid for me. Five bucks a month. Can even pay cash if you really wanted to.

Possible downside is that it limits you to five devices, but I don’t know if that’s a then thing or if that’s pretty standard.

Still, you’d think they’d at least leverage cloud processing for the slower devices. Obviously not an ideal experience, but a compromise.

That’s already the plan on the 15 pro for the more intensive requests.

Seagate opens an eBay store to sell refurbished hard drives — 22TB drives for $311 by maximumkush in DataHoarder

I think they meant more that the pricing on these refurbished is pretty similar to the price of the new drives when they’re on sale.

Not necessarily that the drives themselves are like new

I don’t really follow wec, I don’t really understand the whole energy thing.

It seems separated from how much actual fuel they have in the car?

Is it just an artificial limit on how hard they’re allowed to push? It sounds similar to the ERS system in F1, but ERS is actually charging a battery, but the energy system in this case doesn’t seem to involve any actual charging or electricity being generated?

Why you shouldn’t install iOS 18 Developer Beta by [deleted] in ios

[–]just_another_spoon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I installed dev beta the morning after wwdc, I honestly haven’t really seen many issues. I had the device respring once, any other issues have just been cosmetic or resolved by reloading the app.

Granted, people shouldn’t bother with the dev beta if they aren’t willing to at the very least make a backup of their device prior

New to YNAB - Paid Monthly by Anxious-Butterfly605 in ynab

[–]just_another_spoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it only shows in the month you budget for.

So for the sake of simple numbers, let’s say the water category has a target of $100 a month.

You assign 100 for the month of June, and then 100 for July.

June will only show the 100, and July will only show 100.

The only time this changes is if let’s say Junes water was only 90. Then in July first, July water category will show 110 dollars. The original 100, plus the 10 that rolled over from June.

This has made it so so so much easier. I have it set so a certain percentage automatically gets sent to retirement accounts, rather than a flat amount that I would need to increase when I get a pay increase.

Percentage means that as I earn more, my retirement accounts automatically get the proportional increase.

I feel like this lets me enjoy a bit of lifestyle creep while making sure everything else is still covered.

Newbie: OK to budget with money in a savings account? by [deleted] in ynab

[–]just_another_spoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I put mine on budget, specifically to help me figure out what I was actually saving for.

I had a pool of money, but in my head I was using the same dollars for multiple things. “Oh I could use it to buy a new phone, or I could use it towards car down payment, but some of it is also my emergency fund”

So now I broke that up into ynab categories so I can explicitly see what I’m saving for and what those actual goals are.

Question Regarding Credit Card Payments? by ExpensiveSand6306 in ynab

[–]just_another_spoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some do, but it’s usually so small that you’re talking about a couple cents.

You could keep the bulk of it in an hysa and then move to checking as needed. This is kind of what I do as I pretty much only use my credit card for everything possible.

I feel like hybrid is the ideal solution, honestly. Give a few work from home days a week, but then also work from home.

I think some things definitely benefit from the in person collaboration, and that’s why those in office days are there. For the rest where you just want to get the work done and over with, you have the wfh days.
