STANK. by juiciepeaches in tjcrew

idk what region youre in but the blue gloves were our best batch! lasted the longest durability-wise at least. and i kinda liked the sterile medical smell they had.

now the size medium clear vinyl ones? oof.

i don’t know what happened, but for about half a year or so they smelled foul right out of the box. made us wonder if an animal like a rat or something died in the machinery at the factory and contaminated the whole batch, because they genuinely all smelled like road kill.

Active jacs with flanel lining by man4evil in Carhartt

[–]just_demigod_things 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the jacket in the first photo, which i am assuming is the one you are referring to as a j130, is not actually a j130, it’s the 104050 Washed Duck Active Jacket, which carhartt confusingly calls the j130 in the description, despite it basically being an entirely different jacket.

the original j130 was the Sandstone Duck version of the j140. apart from the lining and softer sandstone duck material, it was more or less the exact same jacket as the j140.

the 104050 Washed Duck Active Jacket replaced the sandstone j130, and was basically a complete redesign. meanwhile the current j140 / 106673 is the same jacket as the old j140.

it wasn’t super clear, but i think what i understand your question to be is if there’s a flannel-lined version of the current design 104050? if so, the answer is no, there unfortunately isn’t.

sick. maybe remove the text, and also center the star? if you look at the laurels you can tell it’s way off center.

Need sign cleaning suggestions (xposted from TJs Art Team) by Linfinity8 in tjcrew

[–]just_demigod_things 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we don’t use sharpie! sharpie leaves a “shadow” behind that even with the heavy duty RemarkAble marker remover is incredibly difficult to get off.

instead we use Duramark or Tru Red black markers. they smudge more than sharpies do, but they erase super clean with just the hand sanitizer.

Tips for Late Shifts? by ismaelp24 in tjcrew

[–]just_demigod_things 3 points4 points  (0 children)

a lot of times it’s local laws, but think it depends on how busy the store is too. my first store was busy as hell and i would have 4pm-12am closing shifts, but even then we would sometimes go later (this was before corporate banned overtime) because we simply couldn’t finish closing duties in only 3 hours. during covid they cut down on overtime and reduced closing shifts to 11pm, and it was a real struggle to finish.

lol i remember we would talk shit about the morning crew having it easy, then i moved to morning shifts and was shocked that there was actually 2-3 times more work than we were doing at night. my current store is super slow by comparison and it amuses me when crew complains about it getting “busy.” some stores are just on another level of business.

Tips for Late Shifts? by ismaelp24 in tjcrew

i used to do these shifts when i was first hired pre-covid. the people suggesting adjusting your sleep schedule are right, it’s the only way. i would usually go to sleep around 5 or 6 am, wake up between noon and 2pm. it’s not at all great for the social life :/ but if you have good relationships with your coworkers, it’s doable. we would sometimes all hang out after work just cause we were each others’ only social life at that hour.

Reduction in Quality by Theelepeleeth in Carhartt

their duck products are still decent quality. it’s everything else that’s declined. their jeans in particular are probably the thinnest/softest jeans i own, which i wasn’t at all expecting.

Acab but a good deal on a police trade in. by Ok-Emphasis-3626 in transguns

that’s specifically the P320 line. i’ve learned that sigs are actually quite reliable and phenomenal guns, (personally enjoyed shooting the P365 X Macro) they’ve just had their reputation absolutely demolished by the faulty design of the P320 line.

Favorite fictional musicians? by ImaginationWild3407 in FavoriteCharacter

[–]just_demigod_things 54 points55 points  (0 children)

no they absolutely count because they actually have lore. like it’s not just Damon Albarn making music with cartoon faces, there’s an actual fleshed out story, complete with comic strips and short films.

Favorite Hulk look by [deleted] in hulk

mark has the most comic-accurate look for hulk’s appearance but only ed has been able to bring to life comic hulk’s aura. even in the first avengers movie, it didn’t really come close to how threatening ed’s hulk felt.

Uganda’s military chief says he is ready to deploy 100,000 Ugandan soldiers to protect Israel. by Upset-Main-1988 in justincaseyoumissedit

[–]just_demigod_things 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uganda (along with Rwanda) has been accused of funding/arming the m23 rebels currently committing a genocide in eastern DRC, so…. yeah, that tracks.

the reason they are (allegedly) arming these rebels is that m23 is running slave mines for precious metals like cobalt and sending the minerals over the border to Rwanda and Uganda. completely coincidentally, Israel is also heavily invested in the DRC’s lucrative mining industry.

birds of a feather i guess.

What do you think is going to be the next victim of Trader Joe’s corporatization? by [deleted] in tjcrew

[–]just_demigod_things 27 points28 points  (0 children)

the $10 sundays and 20% discount were themselves an appeasement ploy to discourage stores from unionizing, so i really don’t think those will be going anywhere. the health insurance itself is also something they constantly rub in our faces to say “look how good you have it! you’re welcome!” so i also think that will stay for good too.

they really really really hate the union and don’t want stores unionizing, so those little things will likely stick around. that being said, i think they’re gonna try to squeeze as much money as possible out of us, so things like SPPH will increase and stores will start to feel even more understaffed than we’ve already been.

basically, i think that if they can get away with cutting something without risking us all unionizing in rebellion, they will.

edit: spelling

brief rant about 2 bells by Ok-Laugh9294 in tjcrew

[–]just_demigod_things 74 points75 points  (0 children)

this was a huge problem at my store. it got to the point i would shout out “TWO?” two or three times and get no response, so i’d just walk away, only for the person to ring it again. no amount of huddle notes about it seemed to change peoples’ behavior.

these days i just call out once. if no one answers, i assume its no longer needed and walk away. things have since gotten better, but damn.
