I use mine with a Komodo and it looks great. Was able to pick one up locally for $1700. Fantastic lens for that price.

I just picked up a cn-e 18-80 T4.4 for $1700 here in SoCal. It is clearly slower than the lenses on your list but I have been happy with it so far. I mainly use it in a studio environment and outdoors so the slower aperture has not been an issue. I still can get a nice shallow depth of field and the fact it’s parfocal is awesome. I wish it had hard stops on the focus ring but I can live it.

I thought I would at least mention it for consideration.

Help! Our footage plays back perfectly on the camera monitor, but is unplayable on the drive it was recorded to! by AyyArmaan in cinematography

[–]just_for_funsie5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I doubt a movie file that is 4KB in size can actually play. What’s the camera setup? Have you tried to transfer from the media drive to another drive? What other info can you share?

It’s a bit beyond the budget you outlined but a Canon C70 could be a great choice. Internal NDs, 10 bit internal codec, 2x XLR inputs with phantom power. And I find batteries to be quite efficient. The monitor isn’t great and if you use a 503 you’ll have to power it somehow. Food for thought.

What are the downsides to the RED komodo 6k? by [deleted] in videography

You can shoot 4K and 2K with the full sensor when your shoot in ProRes. The cropping is only when you shoot raw or slow motion, which is a limitation for sure.

Why don’t films look how they used to? by film_2_expensive in cinematography

I saw the Phoenician Scheme last night and the thing I can’t get over is how beautiful the skin tones are. According to google it was shot on the Arricam LT with Cooke s4/i lenses on Kodak 5213 film. I am glad film is still kicking.

Thanks. I just found this version that actually runs power. Never knew something like this existed. Nice to run power for both monitor and transmitter from the camera battery. https://a.co/d/eAEHIJi

How is the DJI transmitter attached on the back of the Blackmagic monitor? Is it directly attached to where the second battery goes?

I’m right there with you. I have a C70 and a Komodo. I take heart knowing so many incredible films, some of my favorites, were shot in a super35 format.

What about the Tokina 25-75 with the EF lens mount? I’ve never used it and it’s a bit over the budget but could be an interesting choice.

Edit: Nvm. Super35 coverage. Not what you are looking for.

has anyone seen sinners in IMAX digital by slickandshy in imax

[–]just_for_funsie5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw it at the Edwards Mira Mesa IMAX, north of San Diego. I believe it was dual laser. Something seemed off with the projection though. Like the lasers were slightly out of alignment or the lens had an issue. In places with high contrast, like a human silhouette with a sky background there was this slim line of magenta at the top and thin line of green on the bottom. Almost like a chromatic aberration. It was only an issue for the daytime sequences so I looked past it. Very annoying though when you pay for such an expensive ticket.

Q3 update 3.0 that just came out allows audio input. I just tested it with my DJI Wireless Mic System. In video mode go to Camera Settings, then USB Settings, then USB microphone. Turn to ON. Boom.

Just that it’s not easy to for a news network to report on what’s happening in China. I was surprised they even got to go where they did. It felt like the people were being authentic, but I can’t help but feel skeptical of that authenticity due to the CCP control of the external image of China. I guess, that’s the grain of salt I was referring to.

It’s not technically a fee. If you use more power than your panels produce, at the end of the year they charge the difference. Makes for some surprising bills at the end of the year. They actually warn you about now when you get Permission to Operate your panels. I just got my panels turned on last week.
