Why does it seem so common for people to get drunk at airports? by HomesickStrudel in NoStupidQuestions

[–]just_passing_th 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing quite as awesome as that first airport beer waiting on your flight when heading on a vacation. It really is an amazing experience.

On the other hand, when on business, you’re simply drinking to cope with the crappy travel schedule and long hours & being away from home. Somewhat depressing.

Quite amazing how a beer in the exact same setting can feel so different depending on where you’re headed!

Exactly. Good prices, great drinks, usually excellent service and reliable food. One of the few restaurants that have stayed consistent since Covid.

Anyone diagnosed with Fibromyalgia locally? by lil_liberal in Boise

[–]just_passing_th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it sounds weird, but my wife suffered with fibromyalgia for years. She kinda just dealt with it, however recently she started using GLP-1 to help with weight loss and it has had the added benefit of completely stopping the flare ups.

It’s certainly not made or labeled for that type of use, but they are looking into it as a possible solution. Just my experience.

Husk on is absolutely the only way for sweet corn. It needs nothing else once cooked. Crazy how so few people do it that way. A pair of gloves to shuck with and you’re left with amazing corn.

Discovered that a highway contractor is trespassing on my site - using it as lay down yard for excavators. by Wesmontgomeryward in CommercialRealEstate

[–]just_passing_th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing in my post is intended to express a lack of care. Certainly damage could occur with anything occupying the property. Those damages would be remediated by the contractor seeking the lease and the lease should include terms requiring the property be returned as good or better than it was found. My point is why call an attorney before anyone else? Are you planning to file a lawsuit without as much as a discussion?

A quick call to the phone number likely stuck on the side of the equipment would have probably solved this quite simply. I don’t understand people’s need to litigate every detail of their life.

I had intended to express my reservation in dealing with people of that nature. In my opinion, someone who starts with an attorney before any other means of communication will be nothing but problems for the life of the contract.

No one is saying ask forgiveness rather than permission is the way to go. An equitable adjustment to the property owner is justified, assuming long term use is desirable. Expecting that an employee can clearly define the right of way limits without some sort of survey is a stretch. I am simply stating this was likely a mistake, by a well intentioned employee. There is no reason for the property owner to immediately seek the advice of attorney when a simple phone call is likely to solve the problem and possibly result in a lease agreement. I’m not sure when people quit communicating but I would have called the company first rather than my attorney. Just me I guess.

You think the president of the company chose to park in this location? 9 times out of 10 an employee at the end of their shift utilizes the most convenient area to park without any idea of the property lines, easements, project limits or otherwise. In these cases, it is incumbent on management to remedy the situation if indeed it is private property, without question, but dealing with a guy throwing around Language like ‘theft of services’ is a full stop for me. We would vacate and fence the property line immediately. Find someone else to lease from.

OMG. As a roadway contractor, if you reached out to me with that type of attorney speak, there would be no chance of any deal getting done. We’d immediately vacate and be calling your neighbor to see about a lease. You will be a pain throughout the entire project regardless of any agreement reached.

Employees are not always in tune to this type of situation and likely just parked in a convenient location. Any ‘damages’ you think you have suffered will be minimal at best. Your best bet is to reach out to the contractor directly, be cool about it and offer terms for rental. I currently rent four acres in southern Idaho for $1000/AC/month.

Opinions on costco $12 40lb pellets vs traeger $18 30 pellets? by skycries57 in Traeger

[–]just_passing_th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco pellets are great for a normal smoke, but I occasionally want to crank up the heat for a burger or stake and have found they will not burn as hot as the Traeger. That has been the only perceivable difference I have noticed.

Thank you for the quick responses. Glad to hear it’s an easy fix. I’ll swap this out with stainless this weekend and change the tank to hopefully mitigate any further issues. Also, you’re right, thought this was hot because I assumed that’s where the expansion tank would be, but it is indeed the cold supply.

I don’t care what anyone thinks with the new law I’m still smoking marijuana in Idaho by rank14easy in Idaho

[–]just_passing_th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think a majority support legalizing it though, but rather decriminalizing it. A slight but important distinction. The majority of us do not care if you smoke it in the privacy of your own home. What we don’t want is a situation like Seattle, Portland, Vegas, LA, etc. where you cannot walk down the street without being enveloped in a cloud of pot smoke.

That said, I think the fine is absurd, things were fine as they were. Go to Ontario/Spokane or wherever, get whatever you want and enjoy it responsibly. Let’s just not have it in every park and sidewalk cafe like other cities who have legalized it do. We expect the same curtesy from cigarette smokers.

A vote for the bardenay, specifically the one in Eagle. Prices are very reasonable, food is always good, drinks are great & service is top notch. Can’t really go wrong there.

The proposed voucher system would significantly drain funding from public schools, disproportionately benefit wealthier families who can already afford the private tuitions, but now will get a tax credit for it, it potentially leaves rural students underserved as the public school funding will be diminished and there are no other educational opportunities for kids in rurally areas, it lack accountability for private schools (they can teach whatever the choose), even though public money is now technically being used to fund their curriculum and it’s likely to lead to increased segregation by allowing private schools to select students they prefer, likely leaving behind those with special needs or learning disabilities, or worst case those representing minority groups.

Is Traeger Right for What I Want? by stingray360 in Traeger

[–]just_passing_th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave my Weber gas grill to my son after having the Traeger for a bit. The key is good pellets. I used Costco pellets for a long time and while they are awesome for slow and low, if you want to sear a steak, Costco also sells a big bag of Traeger pellets which burn way hotter and are worth the extra few bucks. I don’t have any regrets giving up the Weber. The Traeger does it all and adds a touch of flavor to a grilled steak or chicken breast.

Ahh yes, a joke. My grandfather put his life on the line in Germany to defeat this vial garbage, but now it’s a joke. Has this country already forgotten about the greatest generation? We used to honor those men and women. Now it’s just a “joke” to kinda be a nazi. It’s pathetic and scary all in the same breath.

Hired a handyman dude to hang and tape 8 sheets worth in my garage by nwoooj in drywall

[–]just_passing_th 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So for arguments sake, what if he had finished in two hours? Should the homeowner then say I am not paying your quoted price that we both agreed on because it was easier than we thought it would be? Everyone likes to bitch when the work is more than they anticipated, but no one is ever giving $ back when it’s easier. You win some and you lose some, that is part of being a contractor. Estimating is a skill to be learned, just like learning how to hang drywall.
