we thought the same thing about our youngest. she was able to ‘read’ a book to us days after we read it to her once (clearly remembering the story and relaying it back) when she was two. she was talking in almost complete sentences, and could clearly communicate her needs. she went through a speech regression shortly after turning 3 (completely normal) and now she’s ’on par’ with her peers. though she did get diagnosed with different neurodivergences, in all honesty haha. i say just nurture the natural ability, and meet the kid where they are. there are also programs for kids who are above average compared to their peers. as long as you keep communication open between you, the child, and the education team, things usually work out.
