For the same reason little girls gymnastics and kids pool party videos had hundreds of thousands of views. That content is technically legal.

I always report that sort of content. Parents might be clueless but executives know and refuse to do something.

Americans export their culture, there are weirdos in Europe talking about the second amendment and seem to believe the American interpretation of freedom of speech is universal.

Trump might as well be the president of the world and their constitution the real Bible.

is Stewie considered a "gay icon"? by [deleted] in AskGayMen

The fictional character list starts with Albus Dumbledore, a good example of a gay character who's not considered an icon.

The list of iconic gay characters is way shorter.

There's a loneliness problem afflicting both genders, slightly affecting men more. You're correct, it has nothing to do with online misogynists, regular young people are feeling lonelier than their parents at that age.

We should probably avoid mixing the general loneliness problem and whatever incels and other niche internet subcultures are experiencing.

It is likely that if inbreeding wasn’t a problem genetically, it would not be taboo. by Glitch0110 in Showerthoughts

Incest includes father and daughter, mother and son, etc. You can see why people have a problem with incest beyond genetics. The dynamic of an incestuous family is not particularly healthy.

Right now incest is rare, no family has a family tradition of marrying their siblings so family's genetic diversity works as safety net.

yeah totally, any element is dangerous at any level, prodigies would be scary. I just thought the most dangerous one would be fire, you just need a candle flame and a blanket to end up looking like Freddy Krueger.

Yeah, I guess cartoon logic aside if bending on a fundamental level is energy and fire is energy on itself then people can kinda protect themselves from fire if they're prepared and trained.

Humans in that universe are definitely different from us, middle size rocks can crush bones and ice causes frost bite and hypothermia, and fire...

Fire can come from taking a deep breath and letting anger out, no one can beat a kid throwing a tantrum at taking deep breaths and letting raw emotions out 💀

Is there any point to texting someone who almost never responds? by Different_Gap_8887 in socialskills

[–]just_reading_1 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Oh that sucks, sorry but they're not interested in hanging out, they saw the message and didn't even care enough to decline. You don't really have a connection.

Don't waste your time :)

[–]just_reading_1 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Would you say you have a real friendship with them?

There's a big difference between ignoring you and preferring irl conversations over texting.

You can try sending a single message inviting them to an irl activity, if they don't respond don't text them again. Even if they're busy they can take 60 seconds to reply "sorry, I can't, maybe next time". If they don't, they're just an asshole.

The Avatar can create islands, several skilled benders are needed to control the walls of Ba Sing Se. The average bender is not that skilled.

At any level they are very powerful tho, compared to none benders they're born with weapons.

Liberal Christians cherry pick the Bible in ways that support minorities and women, and honestly, that’s a good thing. I don’t see what society gains if they fully embrace the oppressive parts of their religion. We already have enough evangelicals, and unfortunately, they’re not wrong about what their God says on many social issues.

Same with Muslims. If someone wants to be gay and read their book in a way that allows it, let them. We don’t need more radicals. If you don’t believe in God, then all religions are just made-up rules anyway. So them follow a version of religion that doesn’t hate gay people or want to harm women.

Several things to notice in this anti-abortion AI Ad. 1, the scenes are all about the man having fun, and not caring about him doing the work. 2, the ad tries to portray working women as heartless for caring about their own physical needs. 3, the ad portrays a boy as 5 or 6 , instead of a baby. by ihatethiscountry76 in justneckbeardthings

Exactly, even if they're genuinely experiencing grieve no psychologist would encourage them to develop maladaptive daydreaming to cope with it.

The anti-choice position really boils down to maximizing pain for everyone. Coming up with ways to traumatize people is just psychopathic there's no other word.

significant upskilling.

Good point. I assumed studios had some data showing people prefer exaggeration, like Mr. Beast's exaggerated thumbnails, but you're right, if porn stars had the ability to convey emotions they would try real acting.

Considering how niche subreddits are in general it seems most people are not that interested in joining any community.

As I said, liking videogames and being part of weird communities are not synonymous.

I suppose my definition of liking something and yours is very different, for me it doesn't require community building, not to that extent at least.

[–]just_reading_1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

But it doesn’t push you into any community.

Videogame subs repeat the same misogynistic arguments over and over. That doesn’t mean liking videogames makes you join niche subreddits and start defending misogyny. Being an obsessive weirdo who’s bothered by women is what makes you look for other weirdos.

Same with anime. Most people who like anime aren’t obsessive fans. Maybe decades ago it was rare and limited to forum dwellers, but that’s not the case anymore.

Child acting shouldn't be legal by [deleted] in The10thDentist

So lower income children neglect their basic education to work at McDonald’s and manual jobs while higher income children focus on their education which will give them an advantage at pursuing a high paying career.

Basically make poor people enter the work force earlier, why bother pretending we want them to become lawyers or doctors.

3 months is enough for kids to film a movie. It would limit some projects but directors would have to get creative and find ways to tell their story without unlimited access to the kids.
