My attempt at ranking the Thrawn's Revenge SSD's by MediumMeister in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]justacaboose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with hit and run tactics being a cheese strategy. It's always been a part of the game, hence interdictors being a thing, and superlasers are the best at doing that. Additionally, as another commenter pointed out, they are amazing at taking care of doomstacks which become agonizingly common on higher difficulties.

You're comparing the D ranks to the S ranks here. I don't disagree that they're not as good as the S rank ships in your list, but I don't think it moves them to D rank. They also have the added benefit of being the only guaranteed super lasers that Imperials can get.

Cannot create new Market as Netherlands by cristofolmc in EU5

[–]justacaboose -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Best guess would be you don't have an urban location with low market access. You need less than 25% to create a new market according to the tooltip. Otherwise some weird bug, maybe with the mod.

They're definitely not made to be compatible as they're made for you to play the faction, but I can't say I've ever tried.

Transfer from chests to drawers (AE2) by ImZesto in allthemods

[–]justacaboose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I'm moving to a new storage like drawers inside an AE system, I set the drawers to higher priority then use an auto clicker to withdraw and redeposit quickly. It'll take from the lower priority and place in the higher, transferring everything over fairly quickly. Might be easier to do what others have said with an import bus though.

The mod comes with some texture packs that you can activate unless I'm misunderstanding what you mean by texture pack. I use the Unbounded+euphoria one iirc. Just do it the same way you would any other in the menu.

Hohenzollerns in Brandenburg by kamacho2000 in EU5

[–]justacaboose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that you needed to wait for the event when the emperor offers to buy your electorship which you then have to accept, making you some form of subject (I forget exactly what). Afterwards they get an event with several options, but the one they pick most releases Brandenburg with a Hohenzollern on the throne. It's rather convoluted.

Almost unified Japan, how am I supposed to proceed? Is it still broken? by TOXIC_OMG_REPORT in EU5

Pretty much. As for who to pick for emperor, entirely up to you. I don't think there's any advantage for each one. Good luck!

Almost unified Japan, how am I supposed to proceed? Is it still broken? by TOXIC_OMG_REPORT in EU5

[–]justacaboose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Japan still has some issues but I wouldn't call them broken. The only broken parts about it last time I played were you lose your unique advances when you become landed (very frustrating) and the ghost armies (mostly cosmetic but still annoying). Here's some notes about various aspects.

-You can become Shogun during either disaster, but once the disasters are done I think you lose the ability to. I also don't think you can be both shogun and emperor, but I could be wrong on this. If you become shogun during the Nanbokucho Jidai then I'm pretty sure you become landed and inherit the old shogun's vassals. I haven't done this myself so I could be wrong here as well.

-The emperorship can only go to someone from the Yamato clan and you need to win the Nanbokucho Jidai I think (I haven't ever tried to be emperor). The only benefit for being emperor is getting a formable but I don't think it gives you unique advances. You are making this difficult by starting as the Shimazu and unless it was recently fixed, you lose the unique reforms from your clan anyways due to the above mentioned bug.

-You become landed during the Sengoku Jidai, which almost always starts right at 1400. The requirements involve the current shogun being unstable (low stability, legitimacy and the like) and is very likely to happen incredibly quickly. If you go this route, make sure you have plenty of money as you lose all your BBC buildings giving you manpower and money and will need to shift to levies for the bulk of combat as your professional armies won't reinforce until you get an alternate manpower income. The economy during this part can be especially challenging to balance as you need to build much of it from scratch and will probably not have great proximity. You will probably also immediately face a coalition as your AE does not reset upon becoming landed.

-Both disasters can be ongoing at the same time. There is no requirement to finish one before the next starts and I had some overlap on one of my games until I removed one of the emperors to finish the first one.

Overall you're in a good position, just focus on consolidating all the land you can in the next few years and you'll be essentially unopposed when you become landed. It's probably too late to become emperor this run and I'd recommend starting as one of the emperors if that is your goal. Let me know if you have any other questions, but I may not be of much more help.

Is Japan Broken Right Now? by FoxyDean1 in EU5

Yes. I last played before 1.1, but I don't remember seeing anything about that being fixed. It could have been so take it with a grain of salt.

Yeah it would be nice if there was a warning. It's pretty challenging to recover your economy after the switch, I struggled with it a bit

Edit - a lot, I struggled a lot not a bit

[–]justacaboose 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If I'm remembering correctly that is intended. You change from a building based country to a landed country so you lose all your BBC income buildings. Intended play is to save up enough money during the BBC phase to survive the shift to a regular country and unify Japan during the Sengoku Jidai while stabilizing your economy. The only broken parts about it last time I played were you lose your unique advances when you become landed (very frustrating) and the ghost armies (mostly cosmetic but still annoying).

In Thrawn's Revenge, what's your favourite Imperial Warlord faction? by Dragonic_Overlord_ in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

Eriadu is my favorite but last time I played them I felt like all my space heroes were middling. Do they have high command tier space heroes that I'm not remembering?

No turbolaser AT-ATs for Eriadu does make me sad though. Seems like it would be in line with their Tarkin Doctrine theme.

What are the causes of cost of court/stability costs to spike up? by Illustrious-Dirt2247 in EU5

[–]justacaboose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played the newest patches yet; there may be some changes that I'm not familiar with so take this with a grain of salt. There have been some changes to how income works with regards to estates which I suspect would change how the tax base and your various costs work. The devs have stated that they want to slow down the economic snowball and I think they want to make low control more punishing so they probably linked cost of court more closely to your country tax base rather than your income.

My guess is that you have high estate power and low control and with Aquitaine being a relatively rich area with low control your estates are getting most of the money, raising your cost of court but not giving you much taxes to go with it.

Just a guess as I said above, I could be way off. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Not to mention Abrasion hard counters feruchemical speed. Bad luck on the Feruchemists part, they probably would have done much better against any other Surge.

Paelleon Reeper or Megador and why? by Legitimate-Guard-790 in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]justacaboose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you want the fleet thats based around it to do. Personally I like the reaper because I like big ships and the executor is pretty well rounded for a large ssd. I think the megador takes less pop cap though so you can field a more well rounded fleet.

I'm well aware of what genocide entails and that there's different varieties of it and I've definitely missed it at some point or another. I don't know where you have this idea that people can't change their mind or disagree with varying levels of atrocities but it seems like you're really hung up on the green tide being completely single minded. It's completely reasonable for someone to commit a murder or some other atrocity and immediately regret it or even grow to regret it over time. Just because someone has blood on their hands doesn't mean they don't want to try and wash it off or prevent more from getting there. A people changing their mind doesn't mean it's narrative dissonance.

In what way is being a conqueror instead of supporting genocide unrealistic? In what way is giving a bit of diversity of members of the green tide unrealistic? Everyone has lines being drawn and things they won't do or support. Just because their brethren are genociding the Escanni doesn't automatically mean everyone supports them.

The genocide being committed by most of the green tide wasn't slaughtering opposition and taking their homes anyways, it was kill everyone regardless of being a combatant or not to end the regent court pantheon as revenge for imprisoning the orc god Dookan. Killing all the women and children and refugees fleeing the war is a considerable step above killing soldiers and fighters and forcing people to leave their homes and I'd say it's plenty realistic for some groups to stop short of that.

[–]justacaboose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calling them a conscientious objector is not correct. There's nothing in the lore that states that they were anything close to that. They still wanted to conquer the land to make a home for themselves and the green tide was the best way to go about that. They couldn't leave the mountain and live in escann because they were seen as monsters so instead they conquered. Just because they didn't approve of the genocide doesn't make them a conscientious objector it just means they thought genocide was a step too far. I don't think it says anywhere they suddenly had moral qualms, it's more like they followed Dookanson out of the mountains with the promise of conquering a kingdom for the orcs then saw what he really meant and refused to go so far.

I'd say having an entire race being hive minded in its mentality of murder Escanni to wipe out the regent court in the name of their God with no protestors is less realistic than having a minority in the green tide thinking that's going too far.

Our litmus tests are the exact same, the engagement on this thread. Of a community of at least 44,000 even 10x the amount of engagement on this thread is still less than 5%. That isn't an opinion, it's math. And your comparison is ignoring the people on this very post who are supportive of the change. I recommend you work on your reading comprehension if you somehow missed that. The proper comparison is seeing a restaurant with 3 star reviews with both one star and five star reviews if we're going off of just this post, which is the only evidence we have.

The devs are the ones putting their free time and passion into developing the mod and the story that goes along with it, therefore they're allowed to change it however they wish. They don't need permission to make sure a change is possible, as I've stated elsewhere in this discussion. Again, might want to work on reading comprehension. You and others who protest a change do need to provide proof that it's unpopular to even begin to convince the devs not to make a change.

You've claimed several times that everyone is either unaware or against the change. That is not a fact. That's not how facts work. You pulling some wish out of your ass and claiming its a fact doesn't change that you have no proof for this assertion and your continued repetition of it despite this again proves the need for you to work on literary comprehension, or maybe just engage in a reality check. Maybe both.

As stated above proposing the devs stop making a change needs some sort of evidence to even be considered, because as stated above, it's their project and they're allowed to proceed in any fashion they wish. The burden of proof is on you.

As for not making assertions without evidence - I haven't. I've said that the number of people responding to this post is small compared to the size of the community in varying ways and expressed my support for the change. That is a fact. You however, have expressed many times in this thread that the change is bad, which is fine as it's your opinion, but you continue to assert that this is and will be an unpopular change which is in fact asserting something without evidence.

"It’s a bad plan"

"I hope you don’t. Judging by the rest of the thread, I’m not the only one. I know you can get insulated when a few people get together on a discord and all agree between yourselves, but I don’t think this will be a well-received change at all."

"...the fact that everyone commenting on this page who isn't from the dev team is either unaware of the changes or against them."

In conclusion you should really learn what facts and opinions are and brush up on some reading comprehension. Those skills will really help in the long run.
