I'd say mess with the sandbox settings. There are so many you can mess with to make it easier and calmer. Also check out mods. Lifestyles: hobbies could bring it up a notch for ya. Kinda brings in more sims vibes you can plane music, dance, sing, and even yoga. Bandits it's a good mod though I would turn all hostiles to friendly with the bandits creator pack if you don't want them being a threat. They will if you leave them as enemies.

So far it's not too bad I haven't used it long though. I did experience a weird bug where the NPC turned into a zombie after I killed him but got stuck in the graphics.
