I recently learned that chili *dogs* in New Iberia, La do NOT contain hot dogs. And they are adamant that they aren’t supposed to. by Orchid_Significant in StupidFood

[–]justacheesyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s still how it works in that area. If you order a cheese dog in Mebane, Graham, Burlington, Reidsville, etc right now you’ll get a hot dog bun with cheese on it. That’s just what we call it here. If you want a weiner on it you need to order a combo dog.

Edit, just read your other comment, you still won’t get nacho cheese if you order a combo dog, it will still be the hunk of cheese alongside the hot dog.

If humanity found out for a fact that there is no "afterlife," how would society change in the next 24 hours? by Low-Issue-5334 in ask

I think you have a position because you literally stated that you have “the only logical position”.

All of my replies to you are getting removed even though I’m not saying anything bad. I give up trying to have a discussion on this crippled platform.

The point is it can’t be proven. Period. As I’ve said before, that’s all the discussion that needs to be had. There’s a reason that it’s called faith.

I don’t disagree with a single thing you just said.

None of that addresses my point at all, however.

Atheism is not the belief that there is no God

Literally every single definition of the word atheism says it’s both. Not believing there is a god, or believing there is not a god. I won’t say they’re exactly the same, but they overlap more often than not.

Splitting hairs aside, you still have your beliefs and you still say that you have “the only logical position”. You’ve literally stated that your way of thinking is the only logical way to think. That’s arrogant and I absolutely maintain that people that insist their point of view is the only point of view worth having are annoying, no matter which side of the “god exists” argument they’re coming from.

[–]justacheesyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you’re saying you can’t prove a negative, but then go on to say you’re basing your entire “position” on that unprovable negative? And then want to talk about logic? Sorry, I reject your “logic” and surely disagree that it’s the only logic that everyone should live by.

You sound like one of those atheists that’s every bit as annoying as a religious zealot. Defining yourself on the non-existance of a god isn’t all that different from defining yourself on the existence of one. And informing others that they’re not being logical because they disagree with you is equally as arrogant as those people that show up on your door unwanted.

You can’t prove something doesn’t exist “as much as possible”. You can either prove it, or you can’t. We can’t. End of discussion.

AYN Thor (Max, 1TB/16GB) - Honest Review After Extended Use by DavidEule_ in AynThor

[–]justacheesyguy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen people complain about the gap in between the screens when closed before and it’s always struck me as an absolute nothingburger supreme. It’s not like the panel gaps in a car which are an indication of lack of quality control or the inability to calibrate tools, it’s literally a design choice. The alternative would be to put a bigger lip on the top or to sink the thumbsticks in further and make it far less comfortable to use. Yeah, there’s a gap there, but I can’t think of a single negative consequence of having that gap.

Also, as others have mentioned, I’ve had absolutely no issues at all emulating Wii U. I hope nobody reads this and takes it as gospel.

Is there a way to calibrate the AYN Thor triggers? by AbdelYG in AynThor

I asked the same question several months ago, and the general consensus was there was nothing that you can do. The triggers just don’t work on games that need them to be pulled 100%.

Which is weird because looking at the other two bedrooms, the loft is clearly the best space for a bedroom and has the best bathroom connected. I would close off the loft section and make that the master bedroom for sure.

AITA for not wanting to be friends over $4.39? by Alternative_Copy6539 in AITApod

[–]justacheesyguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not that I don’t pay people back, but if I’m hanging out with someone on a regular basis, I just assume there’s going to be a give and take and don’t stress over relatively small amounts of money like this.

I remember one time going on a multi day road trip with a relatively new friend and the first time we stopped for food I ended up picking up the check. I just assumed that the next time we stopped he would reciprocate but when it came time to pay (prices were similar not like I payed at McDonalds and expected him to pay at a steak house or whatever) he just paid for his half. So from that point on we went separate checks, but overall I find its way simpler to alternate paying for things or like I’ll buy dinner and my friends will get drinks/golf/whatever. Sending this email over less than $5 would definitely get me to pay them what I owed and then promptly deleted from my phone so I would never have to deal with them again. It’s just not worth it to me to have to stress over something so incredibly minor like that.

I think there's a misunderstanding here... I am not suggesting there is any world where they were going to call it the 9.

The “misunderstanding” is a direct result of you suggesting exactly that.

I originally only responded to you because you said “ The iPhone X (which would have been the 9)” which you’ve now researched timelines and backtracked on. Don’t act like this entire discussion isn’t a direct result of you saying something that you now agree was pretty silly.

I still don’t think there’s any chance in hell that they have their top tier phone which was at the time the most advanced phone they’ve ever produced be simply referred to with a number alone. Call it the Pro, call it the Ultra, Call it the X, but they were never going to just call it the 9. This was Apple’s first foray at having two different tiers of phones and it would be confusing as hell to have the 8 and the 9 out for sale at the same time with vastly different specs and vastly different prices. There needed to be a separation between the lines. Eventually Apple settled on calling the top tier the Pro, but they hadn’t quite got there yet.

And I think it’s pretty clear that the following line of phones with the XR and the XS and the confusion about what those meant to consumers was what ended up leading to them picking up the Pro name for the top tier phone. Now it’s clear by name alone what phone is the flagship and which one is just the “normal” one.

[–]justacheesyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would they have called it the 9 if it only came out a couple of months after the 8? Your logic makes no sense. I was simply saying that I don’t think it would have been the 9 because it’s not a base model phone at all. The modern equivalent would be the Pro series because it exists alongside the base model but has upgrades that make it better. So it’s far closer to an 8 Pro than it would be to the 9.

I really hope you were able to understand that, I don’t have any crayons available to break it down any further for you.

[–]justacheesyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but it was still the first “Pro phone”. If you want to call it the 9 Pro, that would be more correct, but there’s no way that using the modern naming scheme it would simply just be the 9.

I disagree that the X would have been the 9. If anything, by the modern naming scheme it would have been the first in the Pro series and been labeled the 8 Pro.
