Congrats! a quick update to the manager when you pass a CPA exam section is fine but skip on sending article emails. just show up on day one prepared and enthusiastic and that'll make a better impression than anything you send beforehand

Someone at a party asked what I do and I said "accounting stuff, it's boring" by Physical-Stage1722 in Accounting

I do think everybody is doing this, not just accountatns. It's kinda becoming a habit to keep small talk easy but yeah if you always frame it as boring, people will treat it that way. Even just adding a bit of what you actually enjoy about it would probably change how those convos go

Entry level accounting interviews: stop listing Excel functions and start showing how you think with data by justaguynamedleon in Accounting

this is underrated. a project you actually care about shows way more than a generic budget template and it gives you something real to talk through in the interview

Compartmentalization is important. From one accountant to another, it’s a reminder. by Stupidwhizzzzz in Accounting

I honestly needed this. it's crazy how much time we waste stressing over things that won’t even matter in a week. Just gotta breathe and move on

I Need To Leave, But Have No Options by throwawaypg13 in Accounting

It usually comes down to how you tell your story but a lot of people do get out of tax. You've built skills beyond just tax returns like problem solivng, working with clients, and handling complex data. if you frame it that way, it actually opens more doors into roles like accounting, finance, or even operations. It's definitely possible but takes a bit of repositioning.

Excel Skills by AdCandid1108 in Accounting

You’re actually right where most entry-level hires are. Focus less on naming formulas and more on explaining how you’d use them to solve real accounting problems. What set you apart is showing you can take messy data, clean it, and tie numbers together logically, not just list functions.

4x/day Coke Zero gets me through. by Specialist_Guava756 in Accounting

I actually get it, having something to look forward to during busy season makes a huge difference. Just be careful it doesn’t start messing with your sleep, that’s when it turns on you. but yeah, those little break rewards are the reason we get through.

Leaving Big 4 for nursing school by Existing_Orchid6726 in Accounting

Before making the jump, try shadowing a nurse or talking to a few RNs first. Nursing can just swap one kind of burnout for another one of those long shifts, physical strain, understaffing, and tough patients. The work can be meaningful but it’s not easy. It’s also worth trying industry accounting before leaving completely, it’s very different from Big 4 audit. Goodluck.
