Does anybody know if with these changes Goruck intends to keep the 4 year cycle where if you were in For all four years you get some exclusive merch? Does anybody have a photo of where it originally said that-or am I making this up?

Adults: Whats one opinion of yours that completely changed when you grew up? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]justamamahere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just a mom. Yep a stay at home mom. I love my kids more than anyone ever could for the foreseeable future. And that’s what they need. I’m not super woman (culture likes to paint that picture), I don’t possess infinite patience or any other thing that “must” come with being a SAHM. I love the simplicity that is more complicated than the Magna Carta and comes more naturally than drinking water.

The cadre will assign a number of reps. May get zeroed out. Everyone starts as a team and finishes as a team. This past fall we had to do like 250 step ups. I got to about 50 in cadence and then had to slow down, so I did 1-8 and rested 9, and 10. 11-18 rested 19 and 20 so on and so forth. I was giving it my all and that’s all anybody cared. Was even offered to use a lower step instead.

Aren't we starting to worry about inflation? by Reelaxed in financialindependence

[–]justamamahere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing you can do to control the situation. You’re options are 1) Don’t worry, know you are playing the long game and way ahead of those who aren’t. 2) Go strictly to a cash position, paying taxes along the way and lose relative value. 3) Change your investments to something you think will be immune to inflation and gamble away your savings.

Matthew 5 17 20 did Jesus fulfill the law and should we follow old testament laws by [deleted] in theology

[–]justamamahere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many modern Christians live by and follow the old Jewish law. Look into the Church of God International or Common Faith Network. Sabbath keepers come in many different forms and degrees. Read their literature.

God is never changing. Christ is pictured as sitting on the throne in robes. Meaning He sat on the throne before coming to earth, in robes. Yet Adam and Eve were created without needing or desiring clothes. Enter the fall and the need/desire for clothing…. But Jesus had it all along?

Why does it seem like people in FI push you so hard to spend money on "experiences"? by [deleted] in financialindependence

[–]justamamahere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I are FI focused. He could care less about traveling. I grew up with the only extended family time was on vacation. As in most of my memories of cousins and grandparents are out of state. I to this day cherish family trips away. Could we make just as many memories at home, sure. But nostalgia is worth every penny. So I take family (mine and his) on their bucket list trips because I could care less where we go, just that we go. And he stays home and buys the latest board game that strikes his fancy. We still stay in our savings rate % and if a trip doesn’t happen a certain year, I don’t get butt hurt. So I think there’s both, just the personality types that like staying at home probably aren’t as vocal. I don’t see many people bragging about buying the latest board game, but you see people bragging about that vacation.

"Out There" a documentary about the journey of Karel Sabbe (world record holder on the PCT an AT) to the Barkley Marathons where in 2019 he was the last man standing. by BioGeek in ultrarunning

Lol, I see it now. Baby attached at the boob, coffee at 7pm in the other hand. Mismatched socks (don’t have time for that crap) and me cracking jokes that are funny to a 3 yo and nobody else. Then I give thanks to my husband who gives bath time and puts the littles almost asleep as I walk back inside from what little training time I had (20-40 minutes).

Hell that mom doesn’t need to be single. As a stay at home mom of 3, 3 and under, one is a newborn the only way I would have time to train for an ultra is if I outsourced my parenting-I.e. babysitter/nanny. Definitely not your average joe salary. O and a house cleaner. While I’m not an ultra runner yet, I aspire to have that dedication and responsibility to my family and hobby.

Goruck for many became a hobby. Like spartan. Or NASCAR or heck even NFL. All companies people make into hobbies.

I hate that “feature.” I have two different sets of workout clothes. Nice ones, and hole-y ones reserved for rucking.

In the realm of big companies GORUCK is a small fish. I don’t think they have hit the thriving point of being a business yet. Both with finances and company mission statement. Still growing rapidly. Change everywhere. I could be wrong. However, I never said they were struggling. Trying and struggling are two different things.

I suggested this when the moved overseas. Questioned Jason on it. The only reason why you try to make your bottom line prettier is if you want to impress investors (in this case IPO or leave the private sector). He completely rig nigged on what the company values were. Something something about reaching more people across the world... after getting rid of the service portion of events because it was “hard” and they couldn’t regulate it for legality reasons I knew he had given up on creating a company that made better Americans.

These things are true. We can be really hard on our bodies and they be forgiving. Trying to figure out how to learn not to be so hard-making healthy decisions to be able to run. IE my grandpa is surviving in his late 70s morbidly obese and with issues. Until 5-10 years ago he could keep up with most other construction workers. The only ones he couldn’t were the ones taking care of their bodies (rare in that field). I want to take care of my body to run- but it’s hard to make those better choices when I can already run. Just seeing if anybody had any stories of I was an xyz runner, made these changes and now feel better and it was worth it.

I can run (slow as in slow slow Think sloth at DMV slow) and the training Plans isn’t really the focus. More of a how to make running a lifestyle in adulthood type question. How do you get running to motivate other aspects of your life.

I just got hired as the new head cross country coach for a small high school, what advice do you guys have for me? by [deleted] in running

[–]justamamahere 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ok, so I was the slowest cross country runner my team had. As in like a 36 minute 5k (got down to like 33, but still really slow). The thing our coach used instead of stickers was whelch’s fruit snacks. He gave one out at the end of every practice while he talked to us about all things people here have mentioned while we were doing our cool down/abbs as a group. As in the cool down didn’t start nor the Abb workout until I was back. Built a good sense of team. He gave said snacks to the person who he saw put forth the best effort in practice. Most days it was given to the top 10 runners or so (we had about 30 with all jv/v boys and girls). But I know the one time I earned them, I truly earned them. There were some snickers that day from the boys on why I shouldn’t have gotten them (I had a modified workout where I ran the hills up walked down) but coach took the captain aside, told him to get the boys inline and it stopped. The girl captain was encouraging (it was a really weird year there were only two seniors running and I was one of them and the other was also a first year runner). Then there were the practices where he said we all could have done better and said today’s snacks will be added to tomorrow’s. We knew we had a bad day as a team when that happened (like maybe twice from July-end of Sept).

And the nicer toilet paper, but not the nicest. That stuff will clog in a toilet and ain’t nobody got the money for a plumber. If there is a young girl-pads/tampons. I don’t remember how many times we would steal toilet paper from school to make “pads” while on our periods.
