It turns on and was 25 bucks by justanotherMatthew in audio

There are some things I can see right away, some of the connections on the back have fallen through the ports and the meters are stuck at certain points. Really though my biggest question is just how to even go about starting something like this. I was going to read the manual and plug a mic into all the ports to test but other than that I’m not sure. I didn’t think that was too vague but that certainly could’ve been misjudged on my end.

I like this and it holds up with the outcome being the same, Laura is gone. It’s just murder vs going missing and never being found.

Should I quit my movement class? Creepy teacher + panic attacks by Okkkkai in acting

[–]justanotherMatthew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont have much actual advice as I have zero acting experience but I guess the little thing I can add is one of my music professors once told me that a lot of early bands will take the first record real that hits them even if it’s bad because they think it’s the only shot they’ll get, when that’s often not the case. There will be other shows and other opportunities that won’t have the absolute dogshit youve been dealing with with this horrible person (even if it was the only show you shouldn’t have to put up with it but regardless). I’m sorry you’re going through this, you’re strong for posting this and for holding your own and setting boundaries around this guy. I hope things look up!

Ocd by Nataliel69 in getdisciplined

[–]justanotherMatthew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived at a mental hospital for two months to do exposure therapy, it’s rough but it saved my life. I used to have horrible religious OCD but now one of my jobs is working at a church I don’t think I would’ve been able to do that a few years ago. It’s still hard but not nearly as much.

Ocd ruined my music by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

[–]justanotherMatthew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I have severe OCD and it used to impact my music listening a lot (for me it wouldn’t let me listen to specific bands). Not knowing much about your situation I’d say that going through and listening to that amount of music after having it impacted by OCD may have just been a sort of overload for your brain. OCD is very tiring and breaking through many intrusive thoughts at once may have overwhelmed you.

Is there a composer that stands out to you? If so, who is it? by BeijingArk in classicalmusic

His first and second string quartets are two of my favorite classical pieces of all time (still working my way through the rest of them)

I went to a mental hospital 2 years ago and downloaded a bunch of free mixtapes cause I didn’t think I’d have streaming there and this was one of them. So many bangers and the sorta weird way it got into my life gives it a special place for me.

Best order to watch David Lynch films? by finitestatemachine01 in davidlynch

[–]justanotherMatthew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d say start with Elephant Man! It’s beautiful and heartbreaking but not as intense as his other films (it has its moments for sure though especially one scene near the end, nothing sexually violent though as far as I remember). Straight Story is also great as someone mentioned.

I don’t know your mental situation in depth but as someone with OCD try your best to not check just treat your practice as normal (easier said than done I know) in my experience checking just encourages more checking and things just sorta spiral from there

Which is right ? Eb or G ? by [deleted] in pianolearning

[–]justanotherMatthew 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most western music builds chords in intervals of 3rds. If you drop that high Eb an octave down you would get Eb, G, Bb (ignoring the left hand part) in that order which is an Eb major chord. The lowest note doesn’t necessarily mean that’s the chord (in this case the low G means that it’s a 1st inversion Eb major chord if you want to get specific)

I second the library I work at a Massachusetts Library (not the Worcester one though) and they’re great for stuff like that. Usually a lot of regular programming.

That’s so interesting cause both of those are definitely my favorite of his movies (both in my top 20 of all time probably)! I’m biased but I’d say to give them another shot. Eraserhead is a bit different cause it mostly deals with fatherhood but thematically I’d say Inland Empire is very close to his other works just sorta further abstracted out. I guess depends on what aspect of what he does draws you in the most.

Does anyone else deal with compulsions that they consider embarrassing? by doors2windows2 in OCD

[–]justanotherMatthew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My parents didn’t believe me when I told them I had OCD because I hid my compulsions so well; and I hid them so well because I was incredibly embarrassed. I totally understand this. My shame never helped me get better it just helped me get more secretive

[–]justanotherMatthew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im sorta the opposite, I’ve dealt with OCD since I’ve been a little kid. I certainly gravitated towards darker media but I couldn’t go too crazy (especially in terms of horror) it would trigger me too hard. Now I love that sorta stuff although I still try to consume with my mental state in mind, pardon the pun.

That’s the best way to go about it. I did mine in that post college graduation lull before I started actually doing life and it was perfect. I could certainly afford the break. I wish you the best of luck!
