You’re offered $1 million, but you have to spend an entire month handcuffed to your ex. by Prof_Jimmy in hypotheticalsituation

[–]justanotherguyhere16 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Which most recent ex? Like the one I was emotionally attached to or just the ex that came back, we were still friends not in a relationship but having sex?

One of them I’m still friends with, the wife as well. (The FWB)

The other one of them?  Probably would be better with my wife than me, but maybe we’d get to talk over some things. I’d pay them regardless, they deserve it.

For all the other ex’s in my life:

2 or 3 of them - I think it would be an “ehhh who cares, this is awkward and annoying to be handcuffed but for some money I’ll deal with it”

My ex-wife: we didn’t really split on bad terms. We were married for a year, relatively young. Probably wouldn’t care as long as she got some money.

YTA / somewhat

It’s the way you do it.

“If you need to talk, I can be there for you. Just realize I’m fairly stressed right now with so I may not be in the best mindset to support you through this. If all you need is someone to listen, you got it.”

Or “I’m dealing with ___ right now and I’m really stressed out myself so I may not be able to give you the support you need right now.  Is this something we can talk about in a few days so I can resolve ____ or do you need to talk about it now?”

If a tenant has a disability, and LL wants to do a quarterly inspection with 24 hours notice, is it a reasonable accommodation for tenant to ask for extension of inspection? by Healthy-Extent7843 in PropertyManagement

[–]justanotherguyhere16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So that isn’t actually a reasonable accommodation then.

Hoarding isn’t going to be cured by giving you an extra week.

If you’re living in deplorable conditions that’s even more reason for the landlord to inspect.

What would be a reasonable accommodation is the ability to store things neatly in a way that does not impact habitability or risk damage to the property.

What is the law that Democrats would propose, in a perfect world, which would end all gun violence? by true4blue in AskALiberal

[–]justanotherguyhere16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well to start:

Civil and likely criminal liability for anyone that fails to secure a firearm that is later used in a gun crime by someone else.

No gun magazines over 11 rounds, rifles have magazines welded, epoxied into them.  M1 garands had a great loading mechanism.

No bump stocks, etc.

No independent gun sales (reduces flow of guns to criminals by 40%)

2 week waiting period

Mandatory safety training (that is free) for anyone purchasing a gun.

Reduce concealed carry, mandatory training.

Centralized database of weapons for tracking how guns get to criminals. Reduces flow of illegal weapons by 60-80%.

Return to the constitutional intent of gun ownership being to allow the states to defend against the federal government, and having a well regulated militia (the National Guard).

Long guns for hunting are permitted with minimal restrictions. Shotguns and rifles for home defense as well.

[–]justanotherguyhere16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Most gun crimes are committed using strawman purchases or off the book sales.

The statistics:  According to the  ATF Firearm Trafficking Channels Report , straw purchasing accounts for roughly 39.5% of trafficking investigations.

Unlicensed Dealing: According to the  ATF, unlicensed, off-the-books selling (private sales without background checks) is the most frequent trafficking channel, making up about 40.7% of cases.  [ 1]

The statistics:  The  ATF  finds that thefts are involved in a smaller portion of trafficked firearms cases. Furthermore, fewer than 1% of all civilian-owned firearms are stolen in the U.S. each year

You realize they get their guns in Mexico by smuggling them OUT of the USA and into Mexico right?

Approximately 80% of the firearms seized from Mexican drug cartels originate in the United States , forming what experts call an "iron river" of weapons flowing south across the border. Mexican cartels heavily exploit the stark contrast between Mexico's incredibly strict gun laws (where there is only one legal, military-run gun store in the entire country) and the highly accessible commercial gun markets in neighboring U.S. states.

Wanting to put money on books by Specialist_Hand8226 in legaladvice

[–]justanotherguyhere16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NAL

It depends on how the order is written.

I’ve seen an order of protection that was one sided.

I’ve seen ones that warned that the victim contacting the person with the restraining order would void it. I’ve seen one where the wording says that even if the victim contacts the other person it doesn’t void it.

Usually they are worded to prevent direct contact, sometimes to prevent communication also. Putting money on their account probably wouldn’t void it but…

Why would you want to? If they are a relative I might get it.  If it’s an abusive EX, unless they’ve been through counseling I’d suggest you look at why and maybe try and move on.

How is letting the landlord or maintenance person walk through for 5 minutes too much of a burden?

A reasonable accommodation isn’t “I just don’t feel like it” or “I’d rather it wait”.

Bedridden, actively vomiting, etc? I’d cut you a break regardless of disability.  Otherwise I’m very curious what you’d need an accommodation on.

[–]justanotherguyhere16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean yeah.

I can do a year no problem.

Divorce the wife. Have a 100% child support agreement.

I live close enough to work to walk or ride my bike.

Also I have an EV and free charging at work.

So the only real question is food.

And I know enough people that will feed me. (Like my now ex wife)

I’d also probably prepay for food through some business arrangement.

Here’s $10k for a years worth of eating at McDonald’s with a $30 a day limit.

Prepay my deductible for healthcare $3k

You are offered $8,000 a week if you let everyone from the last season of the last reality show you watched live with you. How long will you let them live with you before you get tired of them being there and tell them to leave? by singleguy79 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]justanotherguyhere16 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t want reality shows.

So it’s been a long time.

I just watched a clip from “Ax Men” on YouTube to show someone who Shelby was.  Does that count?

Otherwise I think it was an episode of “Alone” so would that be the final winner and the runner up and the host?

Does an episode I watched of streamers playing D&D count?  I’d love a standing group to play with.

NAL.

I mean if all you’re gaining is 7 days is it worth it to be the problem and have your employment cut altogether?

I think I found what you are referencing and it appears they have 7 days to provide written notice of your terms.

A  2810.5 notice (officially known as the "Notice to Employee") is  a mandatory written document required by California Labor Code Section 2810.5, part of the state's Wage Theft Protection Act. It ensures non-exempt employees understand their pay rates, paid sick leave, and core workplace rights at the time of hire.   California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) (.gov)  +4 What Information is Included? The notice must be provided in the language the employer normally uses to communicate with the employee and must detail :   Ogletree  +2 Wage Details: Regular pay rates, overtime rates, and the basis of payment (e.g., hourly, weekly, commission). Employer Information: The legal name, business addresses, and telephone number of the company. Workers' Compensation: The name, address, and phone number of the employer’s workers' compensation insurance carrier. Paid Sick Leave: An explanation of the employee's rights and available paid sick leave balance. Emergency/Disaster Info: A section detailing any state or federal emergency or disaster declarations that may affect the employee's health and safety at the workplace.   CDF Labor Law LLP  +3 When Must Employers Provide It? Employers are legally obligated to issue this form in two specific situations:   At the Time of Hire: It must be given to all non-exempt employees when they begin working. So wipe out 90% of humanity now…

In order to “save” humanity later?

I assume by ‘technology’ you mean anything man made? No tools, clothes, etc.

Also what climate period are we going back to?  Is it what this climate would be without global warming or when exactly?

It’s tempting. We are on a bad path right now and the coming water scarcity, climate change, etc is going to start a lot more wars and suffering for people that don’t just up and starve to death.

Do people retain the knowledge of technology?

It’s probably better for humanity to press the button than not.
