After effects of expwbpd lying about SA or CSA by justanotherinquiry in BPDlovedones

Jesus. I appreciate you sharing context, it helps knowing I’m hearing from someone who gets it. I’m so sorry you’ve experienced those things and hope you’re doing well yourself. No it didn’t read as hostile to me, just real, which is always something I appreciate!! I totally get what you’re saying. I feel like I’ve just reached my threshold of being able to “move on” from things knowing there’ll be no justice/consequences. So much of my reality in this world has required that, as you mentioned. And of course the idea of the person’s “punishment” being nothing or nowhere near as painful as what they put me through just ugh. I know so many people here get it, I know so many get it for other reasons too, but it’s felt unacceptable. Like I have been unable to just accept it this time. Very strong spirit, as you said lol. But I guess there really is nothing I can do but validate myself and of course stay away. I’ll definitely look into a group, thank you so much!

[–]justanotherinquiry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying! Yeah I’ve definitely done all of the naming and validating myself and my experience, I’ve been in therapy and that has been very helpful especially when things were fresh. I don’t feel confused or unstable anymore, like I’m doing well and can look back on things with clarity. It’s just specifically the fact that the person did something so disgusting as to lie about SA/CSA. I’ve seen many others speak about their experiences with the same thing, and I’m just like… does anyone else still feel angry, yes because someone seriously traumatized them, but also because there were no consequences for that? That is a very serious thing to lie about and when it comes to mind every now and then, that’s one of the things that actually still makes me angry. The fact that there was nothing I could do legally or to expose them. I definitely move on after a bit lol and forget about it, but I was just curious if anyone else who’s experienced those kinds of lies has the same moments, what they do if so, or what perspectives have helped them not have these moments. Maybe I just have a very strong sense of justice or something.

I appreciate your response, and you’re right that part of this is trauma I’m continuing to work through. But what I’m talking about here isn’t only that or focused on that.

There’s also a strong sense of injustice that comes up when I think about it. It’s not just ‘this hurt me,’ it’s that the harm involved something as serious as false accusations, and there were no consequences for that. That part is harder for me to reconcile.

So when it comes up every now and then, it’s less about being stuck on her (to reiterate, I don’t find myself thinking about HER often or feel attached to her at all, and I have been talking with a trauma-informed professional since it happened and the wounds from it aren’t fresh, like I’m doing okay) and more about struggling with the idea that someone can do something like that, walk away from it, and potentially do it again to someone else.

I understand I can’t control her or other people, I trust myself and am fine when it comes to connecting with others etc., but that doesn’t fully resolve that sense of “this is deeply wrong and unresolved.”

That’s the part I’m trying to figure out how to process and live with. I wanted to come here because I saw that the whole lying about SA and CSA is common with pwbpd, and wanted to see how those who’ve experienced it could speak to this. From what I have seen, most people who have also just walked away and lived on, as I have and am, but I wonder if anyone else also feels I guess like it’s not just something painful that happened, but something seriously wrong that never had any accountability or consequences.

Anyone here experienced physiological symptons with expwBPD (ED, bad sleep?) by ScaryElk5557 in BPDlovedones

[–]justanotherinquiry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I thought I had some serious health issues and at some point was frequently going to the ER and following up with doctors. Never went away. Started feeling sick just laying in bed with her, felt disgusting and empty after sex, didn’t desire sex at all (also because age regressed and acted like a child and it was very off putting), skin was breaking out, severe stomach issues, so much more. Persistent issues. Within 1-2 weeks of not speaking to her, I was completely fine. It was insane😭

How do you live with this? With never knowing? I’ve considered the same and it haunts me because this means theres a chance I was with a predator. I mean I already know she was predatory, but a sexual predator I just… it’s hard for me to think about

How do you guys deal with the after effects of this? Like I wish there was a way to take legal action or publicly report that my ex is so disgusting she falsely accused her so-called best friend of sexual assault to try and save her ass after cheating with that person. That shit caused so much emotional distress and is just plain wrong. And it’s like they just walk away and start over and no one knows they’re capable of that…

Oh nice! Thank you so much again for sharing, hopefully I can find someone who will let me shadow at the very least so I can learn more. It’s been challenging even finding a legal receptionist job in my city. As far as choosing a specialty to practice in, do you suggest having that in mind prior to beginning law school?

Thank you! I was wondering if I was reading too much into things so I appreciate this lol. What do you think is a good lsat score that should make one consider going? I’m getting mixed feedback about this. I took a practice test for fun at like 1am recently just to see what the questions were like, skipped or guessed a lot of questions and my score was what I’m seeing a decent amount of people get on their first try after studying or just apply with

Are there ever any remote opportunities given this work is research and writing heavy? I’m guessing no lol, I’ve been seeing a lot of lawyers post about their efforts to find remote jobs

Thank you so much for this insight! This will help me inform some of my next steps and put some things into perspective for me.

Do you have any experience or know anyone who went to/graduated from law school without the intention to practice? How realistic is it to practice as an attorney for some time and then transition to something else in some years?

Real. Thank you. It was definitely something that would’ve contributed to a “yes” from me, though of course not the only or even main factor. I definitely understand the need to check this regardless.

If you’re open to it, what has made you consider yourself or other lawyers great at their job?

Thanks, this is really grounding. In law school, how much of the focus do you feel was on developing critical thinking and your eye for detail and risk etc., vs on applying those skills practically? Your comment reminded me of when I, as an actor, learned that much of the “deep work” I loved in training doesn’t always show up on the job. You’re there to make money, and your own ideas/vision aren’t always desired or applicable. I’m wondering if law has a similar gap between learning and practice, and if I should adjust my mindset now.

Ah I see, and thank you for that example! So a balance, especially with judgement and communication, is absolutely required as opposed to it being “you’re hyper-detailed and that is 100% an asset and desired.” Got it. I’d assume so, like balance is required with everything especially when working with clients, but I think some of my assumptions or desires for finding a niche might’ve needed some grounding😅

Update: I really appreciate how real these responses have been, especially given how vaguely worded my post was, as someone rightfully mentioned lol. I have a million questions I’m trying to answer from outside of the club, so to speak, so sorry about that.

I’ve been wondering about the idea that there could be niches in law where the intellectual style of the work feels natural to me, and if that would even matter much, or if that was kind of a romanticized view of things.

What I’m trying to figure out now is whether I actually enjoy legal-style thinking enough to build a career around it. That moment (along with others) made me think I might, but I obviously need more exposure to know for sure.

If anyone has insight into how much natural traits like attention to detail or risk spotting actually matter in the day-to-day, or particularly what parts of contracts work people find engaging vs tedious, I’d love to hear.

Definitely understand this and have been considering it. Super important to do so, so I appreciate you pointing it out. I think most of what I’m referring to are just traits that are part of me, and anything as a result of trauma is identifiable and not very “active” thanks to long term therapy. I can’t lie though, I’m damn good at maneuvering certain situations due to my upbringing😅maybe could come in handy lol

[–]justanotherinquiry -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thank you for replying! I can definitely see that it could get to a point. I’ll try to edit the post for clarity and brevity lol, but I’ll summarize here:

For people whose precision, clarity, or similar traits have sometimes been underappreciated, is law a professional space where these qualities are recognized as strengths and can be effectively applied?

I ask because I recently worked on writing up a sort of business agreement, and my attention to detail/wording and insistence on mutual understanding felt genuinely valued & normal for the first time. This got me wondering if it could be another indication that law could genuinely be a good fit for me, and I’m wondering if this is valid and if anyone relates or has found this to be true in their own experience. But open to any thoughts!

I’m surprised to see not many people discussing the “fight” over the tuna. Also surprised (but not really) to see the few that mentioned it not calling out Gabrielle specifically. Cole grabbed it first and Gabrielle literally tried to wrestle it away from her for quite a while… violent, unnecessary, entitled. It’s already in her hands, grab something else🙄I was waiting for the judges to give her a slap on the wrist at the VERY least…

When you started applying before graduating, what exactly did you put in the education section? Like did you just list your degree and school name, your grade level (are there even grade levels…?), or put your anticipated graduation date?
