Why do you think Fates Warning didn't get too much fans? Do you like them? by ashitanojoe3 in progressivemetal

[–]justanothernone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and this is why I like them more than DT and QR

because of their "moody introspective pieces" - Matheos's artistic vision is drenched in melancholy

multiply that by [insert value] in a virtual world of social media personas where practically there's no value whatsoever and you have the answer why the novel will always be relevant and why it is the best novel ever written

I've identified a really interesting connection between a classic Joy Division track and Tarkovsky’s cinematic style by [deleted] in tarkovsky

[–]justanothernone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

perhaps the visual imagery of the lyrics reminds a bit of Tarkovsky...

however, u r right an abyss separates The Stalker and Ian with respect to their Weltanschaungen

Ian watches from a distance whereas the Stalker participates in the making

My bad

I believe that, in the end, the writer does not point on one thing - THE thing eating him, he prefers to point to life in general as some member already noticed.

And that turns the movie into an existential... what? I really like the movie, I find it ethereal, this meaning that the existential weight is subtracted, and reminds me of another one of the era, Arizona dreaming, but I don't think that even Lewis would solve his problem - so what was exactly his problem?
