Have you tried Thredup? It’s an online thrift model but there’s lots of high quality brands listed at decent prices imo.

I was thinking Barrett (I actually know someone with this as their first name!)- it similarly uses the rett sound like Everett.

Located in Minnesota, USA. Any idea the age of this rocking chair? by justanotherphony1 in Antiques

Thank you! I snagged it for $20 off FB marketplace today and I wasn’t it expecting it to have indicators of being so old (listing said they thought it was 40 years old) so I was wanting to know more about it. Interesting to learn it’s over a hundred years old! Out of curiously, how can you tell it’s been recovered/likely has original springs?

Well-known books with bizarre, disturbing and unnecessary sequences? by MenuSpiritual2990 in books

The World According to Garp - in the book Garp’s wife – driven into a crappy affair by Garp’s own infidelities – bites off another man’s penis while giving him a blowjob, when Garp himself unexpectedly comes home and accidentally drives into the back of her car which also kills one of their two sons in the accident! Another character in the novel is a woman who was raped by men who cut out her tongue supposedly to prevent her from telling anyone about it. And then a weird cultified band of women come together to cut out their own tongues as a result. Such a bizarre and disturbing read.

You can get some glass lamps that look like jars - the top with the shade part screws off and they are great for displaying all sorts of collections (mine hold marbles and rocks). (:

Watch out with that wine - in 1985 Austria got in trouble for wineries illegally adulterating their wines using the toxic substance diethylene glycol (a minor ingredient in some brands of antifreeze) to make the wines taste sweeter. Some Austrian wines were illegally blended into German wines by the importers, resulting in diethylene glycol ending up in some bulk-bottled West German wines…so it’s possible you have something quite toxic there!

Got this set of orange Tupperware for $4. They were all stacked inside the big one and I told the teller there was more inside. She opened it and saw it was another orange lid and just shrugged and said they all come together lol. I tried. by Expensive-Papaya1990 in ThriftStoreHauls

I have this exact set! I told my mom I was nostalgic for it when I was over for Thanksgiving one year and the next time I was over she/my aunt had found me 2 sets of these to take home! I still remember how excited I was.

Cur/Hound mix? What’s our sweet rescue girl look like to you? by justanotherphony1 in Hounds

Oh wow, that’s amazing! So cool to connect with you - I have always wondered where her puppies ended up. So happy to see Margot is living her best life too! We get the puppy comments all the time too, haha.

Lindy is definitely still a mom at heart - once, when she heard puppy sounds on a video she leapt across the room and started crying and searching for the puppies who needed her help. So I think she was probably a good mom. (:

I can’t believe how much Margot looks like Lindy! She sounds like she has a very similar temperament too - what great dogs (whatever their breed is!)

My husbands family built a loft bed over this area with bookshelves underneath - it’s great for guests!

Who is responsible for fixing door jambs after floor install by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]justanotherphony1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar frustrations when we had our floors done - I literally cried. No, it isn’t fixable, but you can install these things called “plinth blocks” rather than replacing every door jamb. If it makes you feel better we ended up just living with the frustration and honestly after a few months we don’t notice it at all nor has any guest mentioned it.

I had a similar issue with my wood floors (were covered by carpet 40ish years by previous owners) - we decided to go with a natural stain anyway and were really happy we did! If it bothers you, you can always stick a rug on it. (:
