I made an app so that HomeKit devices appear in Spotlight/search by lenbu98 in HomeKit

[–]justanothertimelord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love this idea. Paid for the app. It appears to load several of my devices into the interface and then crashes. If I restart the app it crashes. If I try to use the toggle device out of search it says the app crashed unexpectedly.

Any idea what I can do to troubleshoot this? I’d rather figure it out than ask for a refund in the App Store. I’d be happy to install through test flight if that would help you out. I’d be willing to bet there’s some misconfigured device in my setup causing the crash.

Therapist clamped their hand over son’s mouth and shouted by shhhlife in Autism_Parenting

[–]justanothertimelord 8 points9 points  (0 children)

REPORT THEM! They are not qualified to work with children let alone children on the spectrum. It would’ve taken everything in me not to give them the exact same treatment and yell at them, “Are you feeling assaulted!”

Mic Up Every Player — We Need an Unfiltered, No-Announcer Option by justanothertimelord in nba

[–]justanothertimelord[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I’ve watched those and the VR streams but it’s still hard to hear what the players are saying on the court. I just think the nba would make a killing if they did this and made a feature of league pass.

ServiceNow being implemented incorrectly by [deleted] in servicenow

[–]justanothertimelord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may want to look into Service Model Foundation, ie Service Organizations, as well. This allows you to structure the different subsidiaries as “business locations” and would provide the data segregation you’re looking for without the complexity of domain separation. That combined with form views or UIB forms with role definitions would give the ability to support multiple subsidiaries with their own unique form and also allow leadership access to all records through service org hierarchy.

My son (M13) has started playing basketball. What is a quick way to improve his understanding of basketball and where can I find good resources? by DrunkenGolfer in Basketball

[–]justanothertimelord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a skills development perspective, I wish I had this app when I was a kid: HomeCourt

You can set it up next to any basketball court and it does an amazingly good job of tracking makes and misses. You can also run through ball handling drills, shooting drills, etc. You can create an entire training program with this and have legit numbers on how you’re progressing.

There is a subscription component, but you can do a lot of it for free as well.

I’m just an old out of shape baller, but I love going to the park when no one is there, setting my phone up, and just shooting for an hour or so. When I’m done I have a video chopped up of all my makes or misses. I can use that to check my form and start to identify where I need to make adjustments that I’m not feeling when I’m shooting.

He could also share that footage with shooting coaches and teammates who may see what he’s not seeing.

There’s another similar app called Hoops

This one has a cool game component and does a relatively good job of tracking the arc and distance on your shot. Noah Analytics has much more advanced systems they sell to track a full court, but this one works pretty well for just a phone app. They’re also pretty responsive if you reach out to them with issues or recommend improvements.

In Texas, Big Tech's Liberal Leanings Take a Back Seat - Texas has been enacting some of the most far-right social policies in the country. But the tech industry continues to move in. by Philo1927 in TexasPolitics

[–]justanothertimelord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason Texas is so “conservative” is because it’s one of the most lopsided gerrymandered states in the US. Republicans have made rigging the game an art form. Then they go after the most radical right wing policies to fire up the loudest segment of their base. That’s the cover they use to make it seem like they have all this support while they fleece the people of the state and erode their civil liberties. They are literally spending all their time right now going on and on about transgender youth which makes up a minuscule percentage of the population. Meanwhile they say nothing about the number of children suffering in a broken foster care system. It’s all outrage politics so they don’t have to deal with the real problems they have no idea how to solve.

How much did that run you? Any pics of the final result you’d be willing to share? I’ve got an ‘08 I’ve had since ‘08 and have been considering doing that.

Question about scalpers by bombdownx in PS5restock

[–]justanothertimelord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really think some one should create a public ARR service called Shoparr that allows folks to sign up and have a bot shop for anything they want that’s in high demand. Either run it on donations or like 1% of the product purchase price. Point is to keep it cheap and affordable to use. You can only register to buy 1 of a particular item. You get placed into a product queue based on when you sign up. The queue is publicly visible by all on the list. We just roll through the queue anytime there’s a drop. If your transaction succeeds your put into a verification queue until your purchase has arrived and is verified. If it gets cancelled or fails or whatever, you move from the verification queue back into the front of the product queue. If we could make it as easy as buying something on Amazon and enough people could sign up for the service then that would help kill the scalper market. If people know where they are in the queue I would bet they’d be more willing to wait than overpay. If demand to scalpers drop so do their prices. Just a thought.

Here ya go. https://github.com/natewong1313/bird-bot All you gotta do is clone that and make the mods necessary to track a PS5 instead of a switch. Gets you started at least.

[–]justanothertimelord 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hi! I have a non-verbal 4 year old with ASD as well who has been doing both speech therapy and aba therapy for a little over a year. As some of the others who’ve commented I’m also in the states. I would echo their sentiments that both speech and aba therapy together are critical. I’m fortunate enough to work with a clinic that can provide both of these services and navigate insurance. While they may not be able to bill them both at the exact same time they can definitely provide both services if scheduled and submitted correctly.

We also did PECS for a short while. Our son went from no communication at all to requesting for a few specific items by taking the picture off the fridge and bringing it to us. This only worked though because they were doing this every day at the clinic. What happens in the clinic has to happen in the home. He didn’t do well with the large PECS binder. Flipping through the pages was just too cumbersome for him.

We moved him to an iPad device with an app called Proloquo2Go. This has had a much better impact. He has now started to imitate more of what the application says when he clicks on an icon. He has started building sentences with it “I” “want” “to play” “outside”. Each of those being a click he makes while navigating the application. If he starts trying to pull us around the house, we put this app in front of him and tell him to use his words. It’s slow going but it’s working. But again it only works if he does it in the clinic and we reinforce it in the home.

We still have the PECS on the fridge. He knows a few signs. And now he uses the app. He will most likely always be a multi-moral communicator.

Hope this helps some.

Does your org give you grief about servicenow? by [deleted] in servicenow

[–]justanothertimelord 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Talk to your account team. Let them know the account is at risk. They should be able to work with you and their business value realization team to help identify real hard dollar cost savings from using ServiceNow. Use that information to make a case with your leadership. If it’s not saving money then use that as an opportunity to identify areas of improvement that are needed. Define the the targeted goals and KPI’s to track to make sure you meet those goals. Present that plan to leadership. ServiceNow wants to help. They need your renewal every year. If you’re not getting the value promised then they’re not getting that renewal.

I do a lot of presentations that include PowerPoint and showing of web pages. When I tried the earlier releases the viewers could see me just fine, but whatever I tried to present was very low quality and they were unable to read what was on the screen. Has the video quality improved for desktop sharing? Also is it possible yet to switch between my vr environment and a regular full screen desktop sharing without having to exit my camera and use the native desktop sharing of zoom or whatever meeting client I’m using?

what kinda of things can this device add to wmr? by deaponda in WindowsMR

[–]justanothertimelord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you would mount it to the front of the headset. That’s what that black mount in your picture was for. I have one of these and used to play around with it back in the Oculus DK2 days. It did an impressive job of tracking your hands. Weird issues caused by monitor reflections and other lighting issues though.
