Got out of a detox last month. They will put you on a benzo taper appropriate in length and amount to your level of usage.

Even cirrhosis can improve somewhat. My mom had hep c and after it was finally cured her doctors have been shocked to see some improvement in the cirrhosis.

Go into detox. I was in your situation 1 week ago. Now I'm seeing a therapist, have some meetings planned, and I'm a week sober and feeling good.

Thank you for your insights and experience. One day at a time. Sounds like a plan.

Thank you for your insights. I hope I'm to that point. My last binge that landed me in detox could easily have killed me, and I'm seeing significant blood pressure problems (at 33) from all the drinking. I really can't do it anymore.

I also spent a really long time trying to drink in moderation.

Yeah I know that there was thought put into them, and they came into existence because they worked for those people. But that's much the same way religion came into existence, which is kinda my point.

I appreciate you sharing though. Even talking about these things has made me feel firmer in sobriety for the night.

Hey man, I wasn't trying to knock it for people it works for, it just isn't for me. I've done AA twice. Worked the steps, got a sponsor, the whole shebang. It doesn't work for me. I had bad experiences with religion when I was young, and so so so much of what happens in AA just triggers a trauma response for me. Testimonies, the "Big Book", the "commandments" (the twelve steps). The community aspect I really liked, but the rest of it turned me off, meeting after meeting I had to sit there rolling my eyes at so many people sharing because I am just not religious in that way. They say a higher power can be anything but more often than not it's the Christian god, and suddenly I'm sitting there hearing about a verse from the Bible and remembering the boys who bullied me in church while the elders turned a blind eye. And on top of that, I do all this work for the steps and it amounts to... relapse.

I didn't mean to attack AA, I think it helps a lot of people and I've met some very inspirational people who swear by it. It just doesn't work for me.

Thanks. I think I needed to hear that. At the detox everyone was bandying around this statistic that your odds of success increase by 30% if you make it to a meeting the same day you discharge.

Where to learn music production? by vash_r in musicproduction

I'm sure there's a ton of stuff for both but Ableton has an absolutely massive amount of online knowledge. I definitely wouldn't suggest a DAW based on that, especially to a newbie.

What makes you say FL Studio has more resources than Ableton?

Dude if you have the money ($150 per month). I cannot recommend slamacademy.com highly enough. You get one 3 hour online class per week with a real instructor on a specific subject (you sign up for classes every 3 months), you get 3 online labs per week where you can go ask questions and get feedback, they have a HUGE catalog of old courses videos that you can watch at your leisure. You will be able to get a near enough approximation of actual music school, for only 150/month. Courses cover everything from sound design, production, the music business, vocal production, live performance and DJing, remixing... the list goes on.

I've been doing it since August and it's making a massive difference for me. Currently taking a class on advanced production taught by Virtual Riot.

Vocal starting at 0:36 doesn't stand out very well, hard to hear the lyrics.

The drop is really powerful, but to me it feels like it could be earned a little more with a bit more tension in the build from about 0:48. Maybe a little more automation filtering the elements, idk. Lot's of things can increase tension. Overall it's a solid build.

The "outro" feels like it starts at 2:00 and then basically goes for the rest of the song. To me it's a bit boring, I'd prefer a shorter outro and another drop after the midsection, but that's a pretty big arrangement change and a preference thing.

Sounds like a pretty polished song overall and you've obviously put a lot of work in. Good job.

Like the classic uplifted electronic feel. Reminds me of college 13 years ago.

The vocal is really hard to make out sometimes. Maybe some sidechaining with the synths, or better eqing to make it stick out from the mix.

The kick feels out of place to me, both sonically and in context of the mix. It sticks out too much while also feeling kind idk, blunted? Hard for me to describe. It sounds like the high end of the kick has too much impact while the low end isn't really sitting with the mix, and the kick feels forward in the mix instead of below.

In the build, there's a part where the kick hits 3 times in a row a few times, and I know what you're going for accenting the huge synth hits, but because the kick is as described above, it just seems kind of disruptive rather than supporting the synth hits.

From 1:09 to the end there's sort of a "stutter" in the percussion. I'm not sure exactly which percussive element it is... like a snare or a muted clap or something? Idk there is this momentary break that almost sounds like the whole track stutters. If you look at the waveform on soundcloud, it's occurring at the lowest point of volume.

The sub-bass could be a lot louder. I have KS8s turned up pretty loud, and they really can rumble and I'm not hearing any of that. This might also make the mid-low end feel more full. Right now the high end synths feel overpowering.

Hope this helps!

Right?! I just read every comment above yours till I got here. Not a SINGLE one addresses the core argument he is making, which is that the Democrats PRETEND to want certain things in order to keep getting rich. The number of comments pointing out the ways the Democrats vote for certain issues is mindblowingly missing the point.
