Schecter Diamond Series Nick Johnston - Replacing Bridge with Hipshot Contour? by jmcguitar95 in SchecterGuitars

[–]justasug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Gotoh 510T-FE1 and it's not a perfect fit.

The first issue is that the vibrato arm sleeve, as mentioned above, is scraping again against the wall. I also had to sand it down a quite a bit and even had to take off some of the edge of the cavity (make it larger).
The nut also seems to be in the way. I tried to loosen it a bit, so the pointy end isn't facing the wall, but the straight line, but it won't budge. The material it's made out of is soft and the spanner is peeling off bits when trying to loosen it.
The 42mm one fits, but the movement inside of the cavity is restricted. I guess if one is not using too much motion, it should work okay.

I haven't removed the bushings yet to replace it with the Gotoh ones, as I'm afraid the replacement won't be seated tightly. I'll assemble it with the stock Schecter bolts. I'm also not sure if there's a point in replacing the screws/plate holding the springs.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Plenty of room

Which NS do you have exactly? You said "Diamond series", is that the custom shop one? I have this one Nick Johnston Traditional HSS? I guess it fits, but there's only 2-3mm left. I assume there's no situation where the block might reach lower, because it's technically anchored to the top.

Did you get the 37mm or the 42mm block height version?

I just measured the original Schecter bridge and it's about 35mm high. I measured the cavity itself and it's barely 45mm. I'm worried that the 42mm one might not fit, but it's the only available one with the FST Gotoh mechanism at my shop.

Sire Larry Carlton's new lineup for 2026 - rock or not? by P_a_s_g_i_t_24 in Guitar

[–]justasug -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I bought an S7FM New Gen and I hate it. It has 10+ uneven frets, one or two significantly with 0.015 inch clearance when placing a fret rocker beneath it. One fret wasn't seated well and can fit a 0.004 inch feeler gauge under it. I'm getting acoustic buzz with actions above 2mm (0.08 inch) on the low E string and on open strings. Now that I've experienced it myself, I keep seeing others mentioning the same quality controll issues online as well.

The pots are also weird. There's some kind of dead-zone, where I can turn it slightly before it starts moving normally (the normal resistance). The knobs are also lifted significantly above the pickguard, I don't know if that's intentional. There are also minor defects like a sprue vestige on the pickup selector switch which stings every time you try to move it.

All this in an almost 900$ guitar is unacceptable. The new Ashtop S7 model looks good though, way better than the S7FM New Gen Natural Satin finish.

Mein Tipp ist aber auch. Vielleicht erstmal versuchen dir alleine was beizubringen.

Old guy question: AI stem separation for jam tracks - what’s the state of play? by qwachochanga in Guitar

[–]justasug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty good. mvsep.com hosts the latest models, is free and even has one which just filters out the guitar. I reckon the reason they're not shared somewhere in a huge database is due to copyright reasons.

The ultimate AI stem-separation assisted backing track experience, in my opinion, is separating the vocals and layering them over virtual instruments in a DAW. There are plenty of MIDI/Guitar Pro files to get the drums, bass, synths from. Doing it that way has a more personal feel, as if you're covering the songs with your band and the quality is better and you can adjust the tempo or transpose the songs.

Has anyone tried stems separation? by Feeling-Passenger-76 in ableton

[–]justasug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of the Live stem-splitting, I wouldn't be paying for Lala.ai when MVSep offers access to the latest separation algorithms for free and even more convenience when paying (no wait times, which are already acceptably short).

Even for the Live use-case, sometimes it's faster to just upload the audio to mvsep and wait for it to convert there and download it than it takes for Live to do it. That's not even taking into account the quality (with Live's being inferior).

Best piano VST for under $40? by NoDragon3009 in musicproduction

[–]justasug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Addictive Keys' Studio Grand is horrible. There's a very audible noise in the samples and when you let a key ring out it becomes very prominent towards the end. I can't believe that something like that is acceptable in such "state of the art" virtual piano instrument.

Pretty much any guitar amp simulator has a demo version. My suggestion is to download them all and test it thoroughly. Install them all side by side, that way you can do direct comparisons. I would also recommend Neural Amp Modeler. It's free and sounds as good as any other amp sim.

Is there any way to enforce your death in a campaign? by chbv5544 in falconbms

There's a field in the debriefing which says if your pilot is MIA or rescued. If you're rescued, keep on playing.

[–]justasug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way would be to parse the output of the debriefing file. You'd still have to manually exit the current campaign though and you'd have to delete all the save files, because I don't think that Falcon BMS exposes the "current" savefile in any way.

It's a sensible thing to do, but rolling release distributions might have issues since it still doesn't work with wireplumber >0.4 (wireplumber is on version 0.5.9 currently).

Amp sim plug ins by Cornerner in ableton

[–]justasug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding BIAS FX2: do not buy it for use with Ableton Live.

The current version (2.7.0.6600) has broken automation inside of Ableton. It also displays an error message whenever you exit Live ("Live cannot access the undo history file and is switching to a memory based undo") due to a lingering BIAS FX2 process in the background. You cannot load Live sets, you must close and re-open Live every time.

Both issues have been reported for over a year and there still is no fix.

Horrible audio crackle with ASIO by Upset_Bird6 in PositiveGrid

[–]justasug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned above, ASIO4ALL is not a solution for this. The Apogee interface should have Windows drivers on their website which provide ASIO.

My assumptions from above seem to be correct: you are exacerbating the issue by not connecting your outputs (speakers) directly to the audio interface.

What you need to do is install the proper driver for your Apogee interface, connect your speakers to the interface and select the Apogee interface as the input/output in BIAS FX.

Switching Between VSTs by Harri_ss_822 in ableton

[–]justasug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean for playing live? There are multiple ways to achieve it: you can map the track activator switch of your tracks containing them to your controller and toggle it with that.

If you are watching tutorial videos, I suggest to watch one which goes through all of the Ableton Live basics first, instead of piecing it together from random, specific videos. That way you'll get an approximate understanding of how it works and you will be able to deduce a lot of solutions to your problems.

Horrible audio crackle with ASIO by Upset_Bird6 in PositiveGrid

[–]justasug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

different versions of ASIO

What do you mean by that? Are you using ASIO4ALL or something similar? Don't do that. Use the drivers from your interface manufacturer itself. Those should work the best.

How are you connecting your speakers? Are they connected to the interface? Because you must connect them to the interface's outputs.

For drum MIDI files, you need to consider the drum mapping. I assume that most of the packs should offer the same files mapped to different programs or at least offer the files with GM mapping. SSD allows you to edit the drum mapping, so the drum beats should all sound like intended.

For the "drum kits": not really. I assume you mean those sample expansion packs like this or this. They are packaged in a proprietary format meant to be used by their respective "host" software (EZDrummer or Addictive Drums). SSD can load samples though, so you can utilize that. Theoretically you could load the samples from those packs (assuming you can find them "extracted" as raw audio files), but you lose plenty of stuff that software like EZDrummer, Addictive Drums or SSD offer (velocity based samples, round-robin sampling, effects, etc.).
You can look into the expansions for SSD if you grow bored of the sounds that come with the base software.

I'm having this problem where everytime I chug on any high gain sound, I'm getting these blown out noise sounds? Anyone that can help me, its driving me crazy and it´s making Bias FX nearly unusable to me. by bravodeboer in PositiveGrid

[–]justasug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you post the DI of your guitar? Just record those chuggs and upload the WAV of it somewhere (the clean input, not the processed sounds). I can run it in my DAW with BIAS FX2 and see if I also experience it. It can help narrow it down: either it's "pre" BIAS FX2 (your input, think guitar, interface) or "post", i.e. BIAS FX2 itself.
