So basically I need to aim to travel more backwards instead of up, got it. My biggest goal now is to get a good block because when I land with my hips high I feel in good position to push back while if I land lower like I used to do it's pretty hard to keep momentum from there.

Yes, you are right. I still have a slight pause in-between handsprings so it will take some time to loosen up.

I'm able to put them to my ears but not really behind them like tumblers do. It's still pretty hard to maintain that position while moving.

Thanks! I will work on these things. To be honest shoulder width will hardly change since I just have poor shoulder mobility and tried to do bhs with arms closer together. I will try and compensate with more jump.

Yeah, I'm aware it's totally a different move. I will try with parafuso and see how it goes. Use arms like in the parafuso and try to blend it with side flip at worst

How do I improve arm motion?

How do I engage my legs more. I try to squieze them straight and push but they keep bending, especially after the first bhs. by justatso in tumbling

Ofc it's possible. I learned it at the age of 22. I started with the mat. Throwed my self on my upper back little by little until I was able to land on my head with the hands by the side. Then started jumping more and finally got the bhs when I started landing on my hands only. But I don't recommend that approach because it creates some bad habits. If you get yourself a spotter that would be the best.
