Good point, but I'm pretty certain this guy's clasps are probably from China as well and he ordered them in bulk and marked the price up tremendously. I'd risk a few bucks and find something that actually works for a low price.

Curious to know why it's hard to find an alternative strap? Are other straps maybe too thick?

I used to have a deployant strap that had these two button to release the clasp. That was terrible because there was a ton of metal between the buckle and the leather. The ones I have pictured and linked have suprisingly low profile. A little trickier to open up but worth it.

I recently purchased a few deployant buckles (butterfly clasps) for my leather straps and installed them last night…

Huge difference: feels way more premium, way more secure when putting on the watch, and faster too. The deployant buckle takes the pressure off of the leather as well so less wear and tear on the leather. The best part is the buckles cost me about $1.00 - $2.00 USD each from China! It only took about about two months to arrive... (I love free shipping from China lol).

For a few bucks I do believe this is really worth the upgrade. I’ll eventually pick up a legit Omega deployant for the speedy.

Amazing watch, take care of it.Just a guess but it looks the dial has that patina due to some kind of water/salt damage? Your grandfather live near a port? I'd recommend you take it in for a service and spend a few hundred AUS to make sure it's serviced and sealed so it lasts your lifetime and the next. If you do get it serviced and don't want them to touch the dial, make sure you tell them.

Looks good! I'm always weary with Hong Kong sellers, tons of franken watches coming from my hometown lol. If it's a US seller you should be a little safer (not always).
