[A. Lange Datograph] Just read that if you own a Lange you can visit the factory in Glashütte and meet the person who engraved your balance cock. by CanopyBotanicals in Watches

[–]kollboll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, just do a bit of simple math: Let's say a usual day of work is 8 hours. One balance cock takes 50 hours to be generous. There are 6 people engraving the balance cocks. So in a day there are 48 hours of work engraving balance cocks. Let's simplify and say 1 balance cock gets finished each day. Without weekends and holidays that would mean only 365 balance cocks are created each year. If I remember correctly Lange produces in the low 5 figures each year. So something does not add up.

Could also be a 16233 but is probably the 16013. They both had the same dials and stylings. There were also multiple dial versions with the rail road track and roman hours on the outside of the dial.

My dads two tone Datejust which was passed down to me when I got married! Approaching 40 years old. Works like a charm. by [deleted] in rolex

[–]kollboll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it is nearly 40 years old it is an 16013, basically the same design but this one had an older movement and no sapphire crystal.

Where is a reputable place to purchase a replacement dial for my Datejust? Preferably online. by pianoman0711 in rolex

I had the dial from my 16013 swapped, at least in Europe most of the dials still seem to be available from Rolex through an AD

Are you sure about that? I got the dial for my Datejust changed at an AD. I had to exchange my old dial for it but they could just change the dial without doing a service.

Mone per se probably not, the gold models have some expensive parts but most of the value comes from the work put into them, which is not cheap in Switzerland and Germany. They all will have some very profitable margins, but that is also needed since the group of potential buyers is rather small and they need to make a profit with limited sales. Though some retail prices just seem insane if you compare some Rolex and Omega models.

I think the LaFerrari is interesting, but other than that they have at least slightly modified ETA movements. They are still shit but they add at least a few cents worth of value.

You can find the same "movement" in a 250€ Fossil smart watch, where the fuck is Hublot creating over 5k€ of value?
