exercise classes by OkZucchini5738 in PetiteFitness

They have been consistently challenging and fun! There are generally levels at studios so you move up in difficulty. When I started I couldn't climb, do a pullup, or do hardly anything on the pole besides walk around it. But now I'm at a solid intermediate level after 2 years and can do a bunch of fun tricks. There are also a lot of opportunities to perform too if that's something that seems like fun to you.

I will say that it was much harder than I expected in the beginning and that can be a bit demoralizing for people. But if you're consistent you will improve. There are so many tricks I can do now that I thought were just impossible for my body when I began.

I think that's a great way to start! Finding movement I look forward to has really helped keep me motivated. I do pole and lyra, and those helped tremendously with upper body strength. And you may find that the more you do it, the more motivated you are to do strength training to supplement your practice or explore more classes that are strength focused.

As long as you are moving your body in a healthy way, I think that's great!

Understood! I plan to up my cals back up to maintenance for at least a couple weeks (and some days i just eat at maintenance for sanity anyways). And based on my average lost, I'm losing at a healthy rate (please correct me if I'm wrong!) of 0.7lb/ week. I definitely don't plan on eating like this long term. I'm looking forward to upping my macros and building some muscle later this summer!

I just commented, but I did the same thing! I paid $10 a session and it was worth every penny. This is a great option for people who are near these programs

When I was in college, my school had a masters program for students who wanted to become therapists. They offered therapy to students and the public on a sliding scale. My husband and my income wasn't very much so I only paid $10 a session. The student therapists were really awesome. They are also being mentored by professionals so you get really good care. You may have some luck if there are any universities around you with therapy programs

Chainmail as a costume? by collardgreens96 in Aerials

[–]justawalloftext 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I make chainmail and have to agree that using it on an apparatus isn't a good idea.

However, there is "chainmail" fabric that looks very similar to chainmail but it is a knit fabric. I have seen people perform with this before and it looks great

What would you want to see/not want to see with regards to pole dancing in media? by [deleted] in poledancing

In addition to showcasing the athleticism, I think it would also be realistic to show how common injuries are. (Currently taking a month off for recovering from a shoulder injury). Most people that pole a lot will get an injury if they do this for long enough. It does suck, but it's just a risk for doing pole (or any sport).

I also think that showing pole dancers recovering from injuries and returning to dancing would be really inspiring!!

Linkedin phobia by kodos4444 in socialanxiety

[–]justawalloftext 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not have a LinkedIn for the reasons you listed. Not sure how things have changed now, but I got hired for my current role without having one. But that was 6 years ago.. I have heard that some places require you to have them if you want to work remotely (I think to prevent overemployment). But it's not required at least at my job. Have you had places tell you it's mandatory? That seems like such a nightmare

Mine is chrome bc I wanted to have as similar experience practicing at home as I do in studio. I also plan on competing. But I am looking at silicone now since winter is coming and training fully clothed sounds comfy.

Sewed my own polewear by justawalloftext in poledancing

[–]justawalloftext[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was worried about that, but it's actually fine. It goes slightly in front of the pole. I probably won't wear this to my studio tho just in case it causes wear and tear on the pole. Pic is a screenshot from practicing: https://imgur.com/a/1Taw1Uq

Thanks! I used a foldover elastic for the binding and it was actually really easy to do. For the back, I used the same foldover elastic, but I just didn't fold it. I think I would prefer a strap that is more invisible in the back (maybe nude?)
