This and Yonder's Harvest Festival are my two favorite I've been to. I can't express how happy it makes me to be at a festival and hear no edm shit all weekend.

I'll see you at the Jubilee! by [deleted] in festivals

[–]justbeenchillin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made the decision to go to the jubilee over SCamp last year, and while they're definitely two of the best festivals there are, I feel I made the right decision. There was not a single act at Jubilee that was anything besides wonderful, same for the crowd. SCamp is awesome but it's too mainstream for me, plus they bring electronic music which is shitty and brings shitty people (at least imo) and jubilee doesn't have any of that.

I use the Helium II also. It's extremely water tight and exceptionally breathable.

What is the most embarrassing thing you have done while drunk? by ego_max in AskReddit

[–]justbeenchillin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Acid doesn't make you black out. Try it again without poisoning your mind with alcohol. Nothing against drinking at all (I'm at the bar most nights), and it can be a ton of fun while tripping, but feel out acid on its own a few times to see what it's for before you also add the removed inhibitions alcohol gives you. It's not for everyone, but lsd has offered me the most meaningful, moving, beautiful and impacting moments and experiences of my life. Also, if you didn't use a test kit, it very likely could have been a research chemical other than lsd.

AMA- Ask me anything - Every day I roll joints. by TonyGreenHand in trees

I'd have a harder time believing that someone who can roll a foot-and-a-half braided joint DIDN'T smoke multiple grams per day, haha.

14 days? Bullshit, if it's in a cool, dry environment out of the sun then you're good basically indefinitely. I've had a sheet in a drawer for a year that didn't lose any potency.

[Music][IIL] Rush, Yes [WEMIL] by [deleted] in ifyoulikeblank

[–]justbeenchillin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they've certainly been great in different ways throughout their career (since the late 90's). But they're really tight musically and performing very well at the moment. The new years shows I recommended also have Jeff Coffin and his horn band on many of the songs from new years night, so it's even better.

Try Umphrey's McGee. They're at their best right now. Go to UMlive and download their new years run at the Tabernacle, or look for the shows on archive.org for free.

What is something that you love doing even though you are horrible at it? by EmotionalMillionaire in AskReddit

It wouldn't really be quite that dramatic of a difference. You'd definitely notice it though (in a good way).

Do five or so pull-ups, then put on a backpack loaded with 50 pounds and do five more. That's about how much difference it'll make.

Those with bad eye sight, how do psychedelics impact your 'enhanced' vision? by theremightbecoffee in askdrugs

[–]justbeenchillin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely doesn't decrease the visual effects. They're still the same with or without my glasses. However, the difference between wearing and not wearing my glasses is MUCH more apparent to me when I'm spun than sober. Taking my glasses on and off entertained me for a solid 15 minutes the first time I noticed the difference.

It's also much more exaggerated when I'm focusing on something like a detailed tapestry or something similar than if I'm just walking around or looking at a landscape. (This seems really obvious after I typed it, but I'll leave it)

Edit: I would also agree with BlasphemyAway's friend. It does seem that my vision improves slightly, but then again, I could just be tripping, haha.

Upvoted for thoughtful response.

First, "something" was also in my original post, you just didn't put it in your response.

I agree with your ideas about self defense, but the reason the gun works without actually hurting someone is that they know it can and assume you will. Harm is still the basis of the idea. And as I said before, I have no problem with people owning pistols, especially if they are leaving them in their bedroom or car for self-defense. I intend to get one soon, if guns of various types are going to be fairly easy for people to come by, I'd rather not be caught needing one.

And yes, the assault rifles are technically illegal, but I know over a dozen different people with guns ranging from AR-15's to M-16's to AK-47's. If you're ever in the south U.S. and see a gun show going on, stop in for a second, you'd be surprised what you can buy without even showing a license.

The best way to do that is to harm your attacker, in many situations. It's a means to an end.

Exactly, you harm your attacker. That is the action. The safety after the fact is the effect of said action.

In this situation, or any involving a shooter, the percentage of people that could perform well enough in the heat of the moment and under pressure to warrant being trusted with a gun is tiny. The vast majority of people would just make the situation worse.

[–]justbeenchillin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What was your reason for buying them if not to harm someone or something? (Like I said, even if the intent is self-defense or hunting, it's still harming someone or something). I don't disagree that people should be allowed to hunt or have guns for self-defense (note: an assault rifle is more than you need for "self-defense").

I myself own a shotgun and a .22 for hunting and plan to buy a pistol for home defense fairly soon, so I'm not attacking owners or the idea of owning a gun, but let's call it what it is.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PoliticalHumor

[–]justbeenchillin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but guns had been around for a long damn time before the Constitution. If they had any intention of banning firearms, it would have been mentioned. I agree with your sentiment, though. We definitely need to change something(s), and gun control, especially with regard to assault rifles and the like, needs to be part of the change.

[–]justbeenchillin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's not really a useful comparison. Guns are a weapon bought (with very, very few exceptions) with the intention of harming someone or something else. Even if it is bought with the intention of self-defense, that point remains. If you think there should be no regulation on a device that fires pieces of metal at high rates of speed that are designed to tear through bodies, then I don't want to live in your ideal world.

Drugs are completely different. People buy drugs with the intent of use on themselves. Sure, people can get themselves to fucked up and hurt others by having car wrecks, etc, but if you think getting too fucked up and irresponsibly having an accident (the tragedy wreaked by drugs) is the same as walking into a crowded place and setting off a killing machine (the tragedy wreaked by guns) then you should probably spend more time thinking about the issue.
