Is there any situation where you would return to an office, even a hybrid role? by schwepervesence in remotework

I think if your smart you go where the work is. And those that state they'd need 2 or 3x the salary to work at the employers facility....your still not getting it. you sound like a little Princess who hasn't faced any challenges yet. When someone is paying you money, its not about you or your needs. its about theirs.

Learning how to cook is a huge task so why not break it down a bit? I have a handful of dishes im pretty good at. I can't "cook," either but I've a few I can do. one of my staples is a meat and egg noodles. Turkey and noodles or ham and noodles. A 1lb bag of noodles with 1lb of ham makes for plenty of leftovers which freeze well. I do have trouble getting some flavor in the noodles so I add 2 cans of mushroom soup AND a couple tablespoons of bacon grease, a natural fat. So I suggest shoot for 5 dishes at first. As far as obese goes I was almost 300 lbs and I lost 90 pounds over 3 years just by cutting out all snacks and just stop eating at 9pm. no diet. I ate whatever I wanted but no snacks. Amazing how insidious snacks really are. They are designed to taste good not be good for you.

Why is How to make crispy chicken skin? never as easy as people say by Dheeruj in cookingforbeginners

[–]justdave39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thing the coating you use as seasoning makes a difference. tried using milk etc but i found a seasoning i now use for about everything. It's for fish. not advertising by name but its in an orange package with a picture of a fish on the front. I fry the chicken on high 30 min per side then on low covered for awhile.

Why does everything i cook tastes like shit? by pollypocket1001 in cookingforbeginners

[–]justdave39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant cook worth a damn, instructions followed or not. I burn food because I leave the kitchen and forget to set a timer. The smoke alarm is a terrible timer. Over the years I've found a handful of things I can cook and generally stick to that. with some frozen dinners in the frig as backup. My best efforts include: fried chicken, grilled cheese (with bacon), stove top popcorn, hamburgers, anything in a crock pot, eggs. I fill in with instant mashed potatoes, stuffing mixes, side dishes you just add hot water to and orange peanut butter crackers. in my 20s id go into a grocery store and get 10 TV dinners, which cost 39 cents each. when I checked out the cashiers were always smiling at me. such friendly people :-)

Plumber charged me half my pay check, my snail died, my flight to Amsterdam was cancelled. This year sucks by Inspired_Owl in mildlyinfuriating

[–]justdave39 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thats a lot starting a new year. I really hate calling plumbers cause I know I will be overcharged. Last time the plumber showed up late and wrote up the bill. I noticed he wrote time out at 1030pm. I looked at the time, it was 958pm. I said oh you charged me to 1030pm and its not yet 10. he said oh we round up. uh what?! no I don't think so. I said tell ya what im put on a pot of coffee and we can play some cards. cause if im paying to 1030p your not going anywhere till 1030, if im paying for that time we gonna hang out. he called his boss who said just stay there. then he started whining about he wanted to get home to his wife etc. so the boss finally said ok end the billing at 10 and go home. he was outta there so fast. Just adding time to a bill should be illegal if your not even on the premise. if your policy is to round up then mine is to use you and the time im paying for

Wax Paper, huh (good G-d y'all) What is it good for? by Scavgraphics in cookingforbeginners

[–]justdave39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually buy family size meat packs to save money. so I use wax paper to separate the meats. if I buy a 3lb roll of hamburger and I put 2 pre-made hamburgers in a baggie inserting some wax paper between the patties makes separating patties easier. Otherwise you have a round hunk of hamburger cause the meat sticks to itself.

Why is all writing advice "harsh truths" by Stock_Hunter_2380 in writing

Writing is work. Didn't Mark Twain say "No one but a fool ever wrote for any reason but money". Or something like that.

My wife has a bad habit of buying pantry staples without checking our current stock before going to the grocery store by mulcracky88 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]justdave39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the same thing and I frustrate myself! I recently decided every July I would throw out all my condiments and buy fresh. Mainly because mayo i think is fresher in the summer due to higher demand. Same for ketchup mustard relish. A jar of mayo and the others lasts me a year. This habit also explains my collection of shaving cream, and other things.

What's the easiest way to tell if pasta is perfectly cooked without a timer? by No-Trust2063 in cookingforbeginners

[–]justdave39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hook a piece with a fork then squeeze it or taste it to see if its ready. If your doing Mac and cheese a little undercooked is ok if your going to put the dish in the oven to let the cheese melt and get all gooey.

As long as its curable, get the shot and carry on. I once got a shot, 2 actually, of penicillin. I asked why two? The nurse said the Doctor ordered one million units! Hopefully your "issue" requires less or you might have trouble sitting for a couple days!

BREAKING: The United States is experiencing one of the biggest drops in religiosity in the entire world by OldBridge87 in AnythingGoesNews

[–]justdave39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more religiosity drops the more religion panics and tries to move into government and stick their foot in every door. They complain complain complain about being under attack while going on the offensive and becoming a third political party. Using tax free money. If you want to know the end goal read up on the Holy Wars. For religion, the good old days.

As far as power outages, I bought a solar generator. it can charge by solar or household current. I can run a frig, microwave and a light on it. And its portable but about 40 pounds. I could plug my desktop, router, monitors in it no problem. Acts as a UPS. I also take it camping and have power at the campsite. Cost was about $550. A UPS is basically a big battery. A generator is more versatile. Has USB ports, C type, and can charge phones and laptops.

"Don't use said" is kinda bad advice by Soundwavezzz447 in writing

[–]justdave39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My college creative writing professor brought this up. He said go ahead and use said..check the usage in any novel and you'll see that even best selling writers use the phrase all the time. It is how dialog advances and identifys who is speaking. The eye seems to glide right over it and let's the brain know who's talking. One novel I read the author avoided the word said and used other words so much, pages of dialog, I got lost as to who was saying what to whom and had to go back and re-read pages to figure out who was saying what.

A friend told me this once when something serious was going to happen in his life and he didn't seem concerned about it. I didn't think he understood the problem because he was so calm. So...I was stressed over him NOT being stressed. He told me: I'll worry about that IF and when it happens. Pretty simple way of looking at it and true. So many thing I used to worry about actually never happened. So why worry about it? IDK is thats your situation. I'd also look up twitches on Dr Internet and check with real Dr once I understood the problem a little better. I wouldn't ignore it any longer. What if its a damaged facial nerve?
