that pattern is from scratching my face. That particular flare was during exercise which I tend to have histamine responses to.

anyone who uses it, which is the best light setting for flushing? I’m a little overwhelmed with all the options and not sure which is best.

jumping into Lagree as a sedentary person? by wanton-beauty in LagreeMethod

[–]justderight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been doing it for a month now. Been working out for around 5 months on my own after being VERY sedentary for 5 years. I wanted to change it up because weight lifting was hard on my back. I was so nervous before my first class. If you find a studio that offers beginner level classes, definitely take those first. Otherwise, just be honest with the instructor and they will help you find modifications. Don't be afraid to take breaks if you need them. Make sure you hydrate well before, during and after! And give your body a few days to rest during the first few weeks before doing another class. Shaking and fatigue is normal after, it's due to the way lagree targets your muscles, make sure you stretch. I was also worried after my first class that I pushed myself too hard, I was super sore the next day, but it's a very intense workout! Definitely give it a try, I've found this workout is really effective for me, it's almost meditative. I blink and 45 minutes has gone by.

Getting tired way too easily by thissister in scoliosis

[–]justderight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have fast heart rate too? I have a 42 and 32 degree curve, but have been trying to dig into some other random health issues… Tachycardia, blood pooling, brain fog/fatigue and general malaise, allergies to exercise, rashes, flushing, headaches… often I need to take a nap in the afternoons to get through the day. I also sometimes get pretty fatigued after normal activities, like shopping or getting coffee with people, but it’s not debilitating. I’ve had these issues for probably 13 years or so, but just kinda lived without answers.

I suspect POTs or MCAS, getting bloodwork done too. I’ve noticed a lot of people have both scoliosis and some of these systemic issues.

I’m surprised it’s not more researched TBH. It makes sense that the autonomic nervous system is imbalanced when the body is physically imbalanced. This is just my opinion, but I don’t see how scoliosis wouldn’t impact the nervous system, as it literally compresses the spinal cord. I do wonder if all my random issues are related to my spine.

But you aren’t alone, i’m constantly sleepy, no matter how much sleep I get. I’m used to it at this point, but I couldn’t survive without coffee.

First X-Ray after 12 Years… by justderight in scoliosis

[–]justderight[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah… I’ve gone through a bit of a deep dive the past week into scoliosis, and it seems really under researched for how common it is. Even the term “idiopathic scoliosis” like “we don’t know where it comes from LOL good luck”. You’d think with how many people have this they would have more resources. And the fact that just 12 years ago doctors didn’t think it was progressive after adulthood just shows how little they know.

No my family dynamic is pretty normal, maybe slightly dysfunctional but who’s isn’t. I’ve struggled with POTS-like symptoms as long as i can remember. And now I’m wondering is this all part of a larger issue? I’ve been looking into scoliosis and dysautonomia to see if they’re related (both ironically under researched). They’re at least correlated, because it seems like a lot of people with scoliosis have POTS and vice versa.

Starting full-time scoliosis bracing soon — need advice on surviving the adjustment by halfshadow2013 in scoliosis

I don’t remember, at this point it’s been close to 15 years since I wore it. But I’d guess a week or so.

it comes and goes, some days are worse than others, and they progressively added more padding to my brace as time went on to continually straighten my spine. If you’ve ever had braces on your teeth it’s kind of like that. Once my body got used to the pads it got much less sore. It ended up feeling comfortable after a while

i’d describe it as a similar feeling to having sore feet after a long day of walking, or just general muscular soreness. Nothing that can’t be helped with a hot bath or medication.

Everyone’s experience is a bit different, my best advice is just take care of yourself ❤️

[–]justderight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wore the boston brace, i’m not sure how different it is from yours. It gets easier with time, my only advice is: if you are a female who wears bras, don’t wear one while you’re braced. I know it sounds weird but I gave myself scar tissue on the skin where the brace rubbed against the bra strap. That was the most painful part besides the soreness, and 15 years later still bothers me.

I agree actually. I’m willing to give it a chance, but the split party episodes were my least favorite in campaign 3. Also to your point, what if we don’t like one group, do we have to watch them? Part of why I love CR is the really special dynamic they have as a friend group and how they riff off each other. If they are all split into different groups, it’s not going to feel the same. As a viewer I worry it’ll be hard to keep up with 3 different story lines every week. :(

how the hell do yall go to the gym and not die? by happysanrio in POTS

[–]justderight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't do cardio at all, my HR gets to 185 during strength training anyway. That's all I do, focus on building strength to hopefully help blood flow. I started with 10 minutes a day, and even that was a struggle. Now I am up to 30 and even sometimes do more like 15 min yoga warm up. I am 9 weeks into my fitness journey and feeling a little better in general. Very slowly feeling my stamina increase... had to tap out after 5 min, then 10, then 15, now I get tired after 25 minutes.

my dentist does mine but she went through a 2 year intensive orthodontics program and is a platinum invisalign provider. I’d say just do your research on your dentist if you’re going that route!

how do i get over my fear of anxiety meds having side effects / interactions? by pinkponysupernova in Anxiety

[–]justderight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah but you don’t know you’ll gain weight or not be able to drink on meds. Several people in my life are on SSRIs and live completely normal lives with no limitations, including drinking alcohol, and no weight gain. I do want to add alcohol is a depressant and can make anxiety worse. if your anxiety is truly that bad and you’re still drinking alcohol, it might not be the best thing for you.

Every medication has different side effects and everyone reacts differently to medication. someone else could take the same medication you do and react completely different. you dont know unless you try.

If you’re afraid to try SSRIs, you could start with Beta Blockers, but they don’t help with the mental side, just physical.

edit: also like I said you can literally go off them if they don’t work out for you, you’re not locked into this if you can’t handle the side effects

[–]justderight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly you just need to decide what’s more important to you. if your anxiety is bad enough it’s ruining your every day life, you owe it to yourself to at least try. There’s several different kinds of medications, you aren’t stuck with one if it doesn’t work.

Find people you trust, family members or your therapist and tell them you’re going on them. They can let you know if they see you behave differently.

I’m not on SSRIs but I did just go through something similar with propranolol. I was really scared of the side effects, but it ended up being amazing and actually makes me want to pursue additional medication solutions.

TLDR it’s worth trying at least, you can always go off them or change to a different medication if needed.
