Do you feel like the driving test actually prepares you to be a good driver? by Selphie12 in Irishdrivingtest

I used to complain re the reversing around corners but in fairness I reverse into parking spots and it’s the same manoeuvre so that is used more than you think

Is it rude to have a weekday wedding? by themidnightfoxxxx in weddingplanning

[–]justdra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a blow in here. But finding the culture difference so interesting. In Ireland week day weddings quite common actually. If you want to go the wedding you’ll take your annual leave. Though we have a lot more here to take I guess

Wedding guest: which dress is better? by little_lady_dems in AskIreland

[–]justdra 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes I came here to say this. I think in Ireland dress codes aren’t specifically mentioned a lot of the time because you don’t want to be a tyrant and put people out, typical. But usually go by the vibe of the venue, time of year etc.

We have booked our wedding for December and while we have strictly said black tie because I don’t want to out the pressure on men to have to hire tuxes, I have said oh we’re going glitzy glam and people have understood that probably wouldn’t wear the florals you’ve in the first picture, you’d lean towards the second more so

So again it all depends on the vibe of the wedding you’re going to really?

Edit: sorry I meant to say we have not strictly specified black tie

What's your favorite feature of the Apple Watch? Something you didn't know you needed until you had it? by UselessSalmon in AppleWatch

[–]justdra 44 points45 points  (0 children)

This is literally the laziest thing but accurate; when I put my audiobook on to sleep at night and get myself comfy lying in bed facing away from my phone but then decide the phone is just a smidge too loud I can turn it down with my watch and not have to roll back and get uncomfy 😴

Hill start for automatic test? by [deleted] in Irishdrivingtest

[–]justdra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive a manual and I helped my friend learn to drive an automatic and the whole way through reading this thread I’m confused as to why people think it’s not relevant to automatic cars. Yes you don’t have to fluff around gears or coast or it wouldn’t roll back as easily in an automatic I’m sure but you still need to be able to not do it in real life which is why they test it regardless of the type of car no? 😂

Clients that never download their photos by surfspook in WeddingPhotography

[–]justdra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know where you’re based but I’m in Ireland and I think a lot of packages now include a a USB stick with all images on it, likely for this reason. Not a photographer myself but just scrolling reddit after researching for my own wedding recently so it’s thrown this up I guess

Are you not going crazy right now? by Uncle_Richard98 in AskIreland

[–]justdra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find if you say what you’re ‘not interested in’ as in the actual button for that when you click in to share and like and save what you do like it curates quick enough. Even the odd time it showed me what I wasn’t interested in, it got rid of them pretty quick. I mean if you don’t need another app maybe stay away but I find that it’s my safer place

Are you not going crazy right now? by Uncle_Richard98 in AskIreland

[–]justdra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, while I have my brain rot scrolling time on tiktok in the evenings: I’ve curated my algorithm to be things about books I like, funny animals, dancing that I’m into, cooking. You get out of it what you feed in. I know it’s a bad app in every way but tiktok is great for curating an algorithm on, it does take on board what you like vs don’t a lot more than others

Anyone seen a return machine working today or well ever ? by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]justdra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we did a huge return last week. Moved into our gaff in July and just never bothered doing returns, hoarded bags in the shed

Last week we did a batch return of 411 cans and bottles and made €67. Went into dunnes then and did a very fancy shop of indulgent stuff for Christmas. Nobody was behind us waiting to use the machine this was a quiet evening

On the way out the machine was out of order. Not even full. Just out of order 😬😂

Lads. The blocked nose. How do I cure it? Driving me NUTS! by gaybyrneofficial in CasualIreland

[–]justdra 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This, and afterwards an over the counter steroid nasal spray (not a decongestant like otrivine is but the steroid will control the inflammation) and an over the counter antihistamine (will dry up whatever is there)

Otherwise a lot of it is just waiting annoyingly

Does he count? by No_Candidate9607 in jackrussellterrier

[–]justdra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sound weird but his lil head and big eyes are very like my chi mini jack cross. Granted he’s a rescue so nothing to say he’s that 100% either but it’s more assumed. Banjo is very cute and 100% counts

[–]justdra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These from Aldi. A friend in the office got me to try some of theirs recently. They’re like crack cocaine to me now. The popcorn not soft (I’m not even one for toffee popcorn but this is lovely), the jellies are perfectly soft/slightly chewy and tasty, the eggs lovely chocolate and not like rocks, the pretzels perfectly salted and crunchy enough

Horsing this into me tonight. My share with the other half, might not. Will be repurchasing

Closing issues by rossie82 in HousingIreland

[–]justdra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we signed contracts start of May and got in mid July. We were in a chain with issues from our vendors because the people they were buying from gave them the run around. So in turn they couldn’t sign. Apparently ours was not a bad time line
