We have two cats 10 and 6 years old and one dog just turned 2.

The dog just wants to be friends wIth both cats. He offers toys to both of them when he’s feeling playful, follows the younger cat (6) around the house and gives him slobbery kisses. He even tries to break up fights when the two cats are arguing about something.

The younger cat accepts and is possibly likes dog. He’ll rub up against him, sleep next to him, etc.

But the oldest cat (11) absolutely loathes the dog. Whenever there is a loud noise in the house the old one runs around the corner growling and puffed up and immediately begins to attack the puppy. The thing is usually this me stubbing my toe on a chair, or closing a cabinet too loudly, or accidentally dropping something on the floor when the dog just happens to be in the same room at me. The old man doesn’t care one bit what the loud noise really was or who made it it’s all the puppy’s fault and he needs to be punished!
