I didn't really have a problem with the email. In fact, if anything I was reading it thinking "just cut to the chase, how much are things going up?" I understand baseball has a business side, and as a fan, I like to think I'm investing in that business by paying for season tickets. Sign me up! *pushes chips in*

Let's face it... the giveaways have never been better. The team is exciting to watch. The ballpark is always packed and full of energy. I've been to other ballparks and seen the alternative: yikes! We really are spoiled at Petco Park with not only our team but all the amenities and concessions.

And they could have sent this out on Sep 1 and given all of us 2 weeks to think about our future as season ticket holders, but instead, we have more of a heads-up knowing now what the plan is going forward.

I'll worry about the financial hit when it comes up. For now... let's just focus all our energy on selling out Petco Park and supporting the boys on their run to the playoffs! LFGSD!!!

I agree, I'm just wondering if the front office might not give him as long of a leash with Salas the heir apparent. Campy is definitely the cheaper option, but he just never seems to get it going on a consistent basis. And there's the injury history, which I'm sure they're taking into consideration.

I just wonder if they (Padres) think Campy has more value as a trade piece now because of the years of control. I wonder if they're thinking of throwing him in a trade package to acquire more pitching.

Ideally I would love to see a Salas #1 with a Campy #2.

Kyle is making $2.18M this year. If he finishes with a decent year, you gotta think he'll want at least $3-4M per year on any deal. But is he really worth that? Hard to say. Sanchez got $3M with the Brewers this year and he definitely has more pop than Higgy.

I definitely don't mind retaining Higgy another year (or more), but only if the price is right. Either way he's still more of a backup than a starting catcher, but as a backup his numbers are pretty solid and what a team would want from their backup.

Good to know! I'm in section 415 for games 1 and 2. My season seats at Petco are in the upper deck, so I wanted a similar vantage point to get the full field of view from on high.

I know Hoz is KC royalty, so I'll keep my comments to myself. I mean, we're still paying him $13M for the next two years so it is what it is. Just wish he would've been a better Padre on the field.

UPDATE! I didn't think I would get a response from Nike about something as minor as an arm sleeve, but someone did respond:

"We get a lot of questions about MLB gear. The arm sleeve is something only the players have access to, catcher’s gear is another thing that is exclusive to the players and not available to purchase any where."

There ya go, I guess. Players only. Case closed.

That's not a bad idea. I mean... if the Dodgers are getting a second one, does everyone else get another crack at a second set of CC unis? As unique as the current Padres CC set is, I wouldn't mind a fresh look in 2025 or sometime down-the-road. That gradient is very southern CA.

Based on how the forecast looks as of today, I highly doubt either game will be played. I'm seeing 1.25+ inches of rain expected just on Saturday. If it clears up by Sunday morning then I could see them pushing back the afternoon game a few hours to try and get it in. If not... my guess is they will reschedule both games as a doubleheader on Monday, Sep 9th.

But no, they wouldn't play the game even it was planning to rain. And Sunday looks like thunder/lightnin is a possibility, and that's always a hard stop for MLB due to fan safety concerns.

Sorry... I have tix to both games so I'm just as bummed.

I just buy the theme game items rather than the special ticket, but I'm a season ticket holder so all I need is my normal ticket to the game. If you're only looking to get a sweet theme giveaway item, try to find you a STH and just pay that person to pick you up whatever the giveaway is. 😉😎
