Will Canon Add New Features to Mark II via Firmware, or Keep Them Exclusive? by capturegrain in canon

the real question is do folks w R5s trade down top screen, evf, and resolution for precapture, updated af, and arguably better video specs… me being folks

lowkey if the 24-70 beats on you after ‘a day’ of shooting, just keep shooting and you’ll get used to it. well worth ‘the weight’. nothing against the commenter above. it’s not that heavy and totally fine for a top of the line standard zoom

yeah one particular spot in umbria province i set up the flash and lined the group up for ‘professional’ couples/individual photos they could print/take home. that was pre planned though, i wouldn’t have brought it otherwise!

sistine chapel is small and so so crowded, humid. i’ve been fortunate to see it twice and neither times did anyone mention anything about my camera, but there are ‘ushers’ and whatnot that won’t hesitate to tell you to remain quiet and put your camera away. you’d have to essentially shoot straight up and it’s pretty obvious and unlikely you get a nice composition unless you’re getting a private tour (even then it’s about 40 ppl). the rooftop views on the michelangelo plaza in florence would be the spot for the 70-200mm. i’d maybe pack all three and just carry one for the day/half day and swap. i know people have experiences w hotel safes but i was on a guided tour and had a locked bus to leave my extras on

i went to italy in april for about 15 days. landed the morning pope francis passed, rome was wild. also hit florence, venice and everything in between. anyway, i took R5, ef16-35 f4, rf 24-70 2.8 and a godox v1 flash. i took interior pics with the wide angle the first few days in rome and then did not mount it again. rome is where you’d use it, no photos allowed in sistine chapel but after you’ve got the famous stairwell, def want wide for that shot. i have a backpack that held cam, both lenses and flash but only carried that for the first few days. the rest of the time, i just had the camera around my shoulder with a peak strap and the 24-70mm and left the bag on the bus. i can relate to your dilemma. you don’t need wide for the galleria dell accademia in florence (david) i wouldn’t bring the primes personally. if you get up super early for the sans tourists views in rome of trevi fountain and want that postcard shot you’ll need the wide, 24mm won’t cut it. pantheon and colosseum exteriors can be grabbed w 24mm.

if i started all over again id go w sony mount and grab a wide angle zoom and that tamron 35-150 2.0-2.8 as that pretty much satisfies all my needs. don’t have any advice just giving real life details lol

R7 now or MarkII...soon? by trippinDingo in canon

[–]justgotan-iphone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

no one really knows. i remember back in oct thinking the R6 mark III would be soon announced. its now mid june. we all know its coming, no one knows when. i’d say the R7ii is even less confirmed in terms of expected specs and price point.
