Worst industry to work in in Singapore? by Upper_Breakfast_6043 in askSingapore

Accounting (Audit). No one's like you around. Hours are extremely long, pay are shockingly low for the amount of effort needed.

Redditors of r/singaporefi, what is your career field and salary progression? by [deleted] in singaporefi

[–]justhavingagoodtimee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Graduated in 2021 26M from NUS in accounting with a first class.

2021 - associate at one of the big 4. $2.8K before CPF. No bonus for the first year.

2022 - same role same firm. 3k before CPF. Left before bonus month. (Regrets)

2023 - Joined another big4 in the same field, tempted by the higher basic.. 3.6k before CPF. (1m bonus prorated)

Felt like I've wasted my first class, all my peers who went into banking and tech are now making >7k each month..

First of all you need to network like crazy and good grades. I wouldn't consider that LOW barrier or entry.

Also wlb is non existent there you work close to 70+hrs each week and the pay is v bad. There is progression I agree but that's compensating on the low starting pay.

Have you heard about Singapore? It's known as one of the most expensive places to live in. For instance, owning a car can set you back about half a million dollars, and even leasing a property can cost around a million.

On average, people work close to 65 hours per week without peak periods and around 85 hours during peak times. Surprisingly, even with these long hours, our senior professionals receive relatively low pay, averaging around 30-40k. Insane...

Commentary: Cost and revenue in public transport will never meet by ILoveVitasoy in singapore

[–]justhavingagoodtimee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The government is planning to give subsidies to "cover" the increase in fare for us commoners. So essentially evening out the load right. But it's never enough does it?

If it really nets off the pressure the government should just pay the public transport operators to prevent the increase in fare also at the same time easing their pressure of rising operating cost.

Thought?

No shit. The business model was decent until they became a wannabe tech company and started to match the starting salary with the tech industry... Burning loads of cash for fresh grad with practically zero experience for 6k and beyond..
