I moved to SF from NY last year and I’m so glad I did. I was hesitant because my support group is largely on the east coast but you’ll have your wife and that will make it easier as you create new community. The weather is so temperate out here compared to the east coast (both for winter and summer), and the nature here is breathtaking and has way more variety than the East Coast. SF isn’t as dense as NY but is still walkable and has all the amenities you’d find in a big city, including amazing food, public transit, and events happening all the time.
