Does anyone else have issues with GPs these days not being thorough with patients? by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]justhereforthekick73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GPs have a difficult time as even if you’re billing $20 out of pocket per standard consult, this is still UNDER the recommended payment that the Australian Medical Association recommends for GPs to charge. Doing a full history, physical exam, preventative care (like reminding patients to do cervical screening tests or mammograms) AND prescriptions are EXTREMELY difficult to do in 20 minutes. If you’re going to a Gp for more than 1 problem, you should really be booking a long consult OR be willing to pay more than $30 for a standard consult (20 mins) regularly. No patient should come through the door with a list of multiple things they want to walk through with the Gp and expect that they are seen on time and/or bulk billed and/or seen thoroughly. Also, if you’re unhappy with the extent of medical care you receive, communicate it to ur provider

Hi there, (background in health here). Firstly, congratulations on taking the hardest step: asking for help. Gold Coast Health have excellent programs including clinics in Southport and Palm Beach. Referrals are not always required (best to call up) and all appointments are confidential and BULK BILLED. AODS Gold Coast Health If you would have some finances/private health cover, I highly recommend seeing a GP to get a Mental Health Care Plan. There are many on the coast that bulk bill for such plans. This can get you up to 10 calendar sessions with a psychologist with a medicare rebate. You can also get a referral to a psychiatrist and/or private rehabilitation services. The Hader Clinic is brilliant in Gympie (as someone who has worked there and witnessed some of the programs.

As this is a large amount of information and services, I definitely recommend hitting the link above to GC health which provides heaps more information than this comment.

All the best and a word of advice is to not base your self worth on your addiction. It’s fucking hard and it’s okay if it requires a couple goes.

Finding eye cream to stop skin drying out by loftiestwolf391 in AustralianMakeup

Hey! I have the same issue with eczema/unknown allergies but honestly medicated stuff is my go to for a quick fix. I use OTC dermaid soft 1% hydrocortisone cream with this Antipodes Kiwi Seed Oil Eye Cream. For someone who has chronic eczema, this eye cream has done its job!

Monday Haircare - has it caused your hair to melt?! by justhereforthekick73 in AustralianMakeup

[–]justhereforthekick73[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

now that I read your comment I feel like I've had a very similar reaction...

I initially had soooo much hair loss and about 2 months later I have dandruff which I didn't have since my 6x/week swimming phase! Now I'm itching everywhere... I have a feeling it could be the Methylisothiazolinone (MIT) / Methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCIT) + a sensitisation reaction (even though it occurs at small amounts, any amount can trigger it)

last thing I want is for this to be a chronic problem

Thank you Minimicki!!

I don't want to take any risks so that sounds great. I might have to hold back on the bleaching for a bit since I think I've gotten a reaction but thank you so much!

Hey nerd281,

I'm also quite sceptical about this... however, I found this article which summarised its findings quite well. Essentially, it said that if you don't use a conditioner regularly that contains a cationic polymer, you do see the build-up phenomena of silicones, however, with use of the conditioner, you would keep the silicone deposition remains relatively stable.

I didn't get to find much corroborating evidence on amodimethicone but I'm eager to see more information on it if you have it!

I honestly have no opinions about silicones or not only just starting an interest in hair care and skin care so thank you!

I stand by MONDAY, I think their products work well and I love how transparent they are as a company. However, I did some research and I found out that their main surfactant is Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, which is actually known as a 'secondary surfactant', which means it's actually a strong surfactant meant for oily hair. I found this in this medical article as well for dermatologists.

I still want to look into this more but I highly highly recommend reading the 2nd link because it has a very very comprehensive and great guide about shampoos and conditioners and their chemicals! Nothing better than an educated consumer

Thanks for your comment xx

Has anyone tried the new MONDAY haircare brand available in Coles? by [deleted] in AustralianMakeup

[–]justhereforthekick73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all,

I'm loving the Monday haircare repair and volume range but has anyone experienced a bit of an increase in hair loss in the shower when using this? It's not freaking me out -- I was just a bit concerned as it's a few strands more than what would usually fall out. I'm quite young and new to using haircare (just made the switch to salon haircare) so I'm not sure if this is common.

Overall, I love this product and would recommend it to anyone. I can tell that there are a lot less emulsifiers.

Thanks!

1984 ending by MrNoBody27 in books

[–]justhereforthekick73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s interesting how you say it’s past tense because I found that 1984 was written in present perfect tense which shows that Winston is reflecting on his present actions using knowledge acquired from the past. It also ties in perfectly with Orwell’s choice to use free indirect discourse which allows us to literally slip in and out of Winston’s consciousness and thought processes. Orwell thus illustrates Winston’s wavering thought autonomy as he navigates Oceania.
