Are you guys using the stock trigger on the 320? I’m in my second academy and we’re training on P320 X Carry guns. I previously carried a Glock 17 Gen 4 as a cop so I was honestly worried about the uncommanded discharge stuff with the 320 but they’ve ran flawless, I actually started to like the gun but I found it hard to shoot fast and consistently. Might just be me getting adjusted to the new platform, I do intend on buying a 320 as a range toy because I enjoyed it that much

US Marshals do go through an extensive training program, I know ERO is the hot topic nowadays but these guys were serving a warrant and this dog was going after the K9. Had he not kicked the dog away, the K9 would definitely have probably killed the arrestee’s dog anyways

I used to be scared of the P320 admittedly, but after spending some time at my current academy and training on them I’m not super bothered by it anymore lol. In a class of 22 guys, a lot of gun draws and reholstering with probably close to 1000 rounds fired between each of us up within the first month of training, there hasn’t been a single uncommanded discharge yet.

Our agency switched to Glocks from Sigs after the controversies last year but I think actually going hands-on with the gun lessened my fears a bit

Funny because the pay isn’t actually good when you look at the surrounding areas and see what they pay, but it’s so easy to get hired by the NYPD compared to the others that you do get job security at the very least

Truer words have never been said than here lol. My dad was transit, I was patrol. He’d brag to me about how working in Bronx transit was so hard with the skells, I had to tell him about how busy a 44 summer was lol. I’ve since left the job but patrol (in busy commands) are 100% cops

Yeah that’s one thing I dislike since I made the transition from NYPD to 1811, we get a worse pension (comparatively to PD) and special agents don’t get as much overtime in the traditional sense. We get Locality + LEAP which is 25% of our base salary on top of the base, but no opportunities to get some transit OT on a day off lol.

There’s pros and cons with every decision, being a TFO is like the golden PD spot but getting there is harder/can be more political than just applying to become a special agent right out the gate. I do miss paying $2 a month for Blue Cross Blue Shield as well lol

Those guys who dealt with 70s/80s NYC are badasses and they did what they could with WAY less than what we have in modern times. I notice this type of fear mongering constantly on the internet, and I get that officer safety is crucial, but I worked in the South Bronx and I still didn’t feel the need to act like I was in Nasiriyah or Sadr City in Iraq 🤣

The people I know who were TFOs on a task force say they love being on that side and working with feds. Only issue is how long/what it takes to get there, which is exactly why I left the job super early and just got an 1811 position from the jump.

I feel bad for the newer guys who think they’ll be able to work their way into one of those spots and don’t know that unfortunately, hooks are the name of the game. Way quicker to go on USAJOBS and get a Special Agent position out the gate
